1  As snow⁷⁹⁵⁰ in summer,⁷⁰¹⁹ and as rain⁴³⁰⁶ in harvest,⁷¹⁰⁵ so³⁶⁵¹ honor³⁵¹⁹ is not³⁸⁰⁸ seemly⁵⁰⁰⁰ for a fool.³⁶⁸⁴

2  As the bird⁶⁸³³ by wandering,⁵¹¹⁰ as the swallow¹⁸⁶⁶ by flying,⁵⁷⁷⁴ so³⁶⁵¹ the curse⁷⁰⁴⁵ causeless²⁶⁰⁰ shall not³⁸⁰⁸ come.⁹³⁵

3  A whip⁷⁷⁵² for the horse,⁵⁴⁸³ a bridle⁴⁹⁶⁴ for the ass,²⁵⁴³ and a rod⁷⁶²⁶ for the fool's³⁶⁸⁴ back.¹⁴⁶⁰

4  Answer⁶⁰³⁰ not⁴⁰⁸ a fool³⁶⁸⁴ according to his folly,²⁰⁰ lest⁶⁴³⁵ thou⁸⁵⁹ also¹⁵⁷¹ be like⁷⁷³⁷ unto him.

5  Answer⁶⁰³⁰ a fool³⁶⁸⁴ according to his folly,²⁰⁰ lest⁶⁴³⁵ he be¹⁹⁶¹ wise²⁴⁵⁰ in his own conceit.⁵⁸⁶⁹

6  He that sendeth⁷⁹⁷¹ a message¹⁶⁹⁷ by the hand³⁰²⁷ of a fool³⁶⁸⁴ cutteth off⁷⁰⁹⁶ the feet,⁷²⁷² and drinketh⁸³⁵⁴ damage.²⁵⁵⁵

7  The legs⁷⁷⁸⁵ of the lame^{4480 6455} are not equal:¹⁸⁰⁹ so is a parable⁴⁹¹² in the mouth⁶³¹⁰ of fools.³⁶⁸⁴

8  As he that bindeth⁶⁸⁸⁷ a stone⁶⁸ in a sling,⁴⁷⁷³ so³⁶⁵¹ is he that giveth⁵⁴¹⁴ honor³⁵¹⁹ to a fool.³⁶⁸⁴

9  As a thorn²³³⁶ goeth up⁵⁹²⁷ into the hand³⁰²⁷ of a drunkard,⁷⁹¹⁰ so is a parable⁴⁹¹² in the mouth⁶³¹⁰ of fools.³⁶⁸⁴

10  The great⁷²²⁷ God that formed²³⁴² all³⁶⁰⁵ things both rewardeth⁷⁹³⁶ the fool,³⁶⁸⁴ and rewardeth⁷⁹³⁶ transgressors.⁵⁶⁷⁴

11  As a dog³⁶¹¹ returneth⁷⁷²⁵ to⁵⁹²¹ his vomit,⁶⁸⁹² so a fool³⁶⁸⁴ returneth⁸¹³⁸ to his folly.²⁰⁰

12  Seest⁷²⁰⁰ thou a man³⁷⁶ wise²⁴⁵⁰ in his own conceit?⁵⁸⁶⁹ there is more hope⁸⁶¹⁵ of a fool³⁶⁸⁴ than of⁴⁴⁸⁰ him.

13  The slothful⁶¹⁰² man saith,⁵⁵⁹ There is a lion⁷⁸²⁶ in the way;¹⁸⁷⁰ a lion⁷³⁸ is in⁹⁹⁶ the streets.⁷³³⁹

14  As the door¹⁸¹⁷ turneth⁵⁴³⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ his hinges,⁶⁷³⁵ so doth the slothful⁶¹⁰² upon⁵⁹²¹ his bed.⁴²⁹⁶

15  The slothful⁶¹⁰² hideth²⁹³⁴ his hand³⁰²⁷ in his bosom;⁶⁷⁴⁷ it grieveth³⁸¹¹ him to bring it again⁷⁷²⁵ to⁴¹³ his mouth.⁶³¹⁰

16  The sluggard⁶¹⁰² is wiser²⁴⁵⁰ in his own conceit⁵⁸⁶⁹ than seven^{4480 7651} men that can render⁷⁷²⁵ a reason.²⁹⁴⁰

17  He that passeth by,⁵⁶⁷⁴ and meddleth⁵⁶⁷⁴ with⁵⁹²¹ strife⁷³⁷⁹ belonging not³⁸⁰⁸ to him, is like one that taketh²³⁸⁸ a dog³⁶¹¹ by the ears.²⁴¹

18  As a mad³⁸⁵⁶ man who casteth³³⁸⁴ firebrands,²¹³¹ arrows,²⁶⁷¹ and death,⁴¹⁹⁴

19  So³⁶⁵¹ is the man³⁷⁶ that deceiveth^{7411 853} his neighbor,⁷⁴⁵³ and saith,⁵⁵⁹ Am not³⁸⁰⁸ I⁵⁸⁹ in sport?⁷⁸³²

20  Where no⁶⁵⁷ wood⁶⁰⁸⁶ is, there the fire⁷⁸⁴ goeth out:³⁵¹⁸ so where there is no³⁶⁹ talebearer,⁵³⁷² the strife⁴⁰⁶⁶ ceaseth.⁸³⁶⁷

21  As coals⁶³⁵² are to burning coals,¹⁵¹³ and wood⁶⁰⁸⁶ to fire;⁷⁸⁴ so is a contentious⁴⁰⁷⁹ man³⁷⁶ to kindle²⁷⁸⁷ strife.⁷³⁷⁹

22  The words¹⁶⁹⁷ of a talebearer⁵³⁷² are as wounds,³⁸⁵⁹ and they¹⁹⁹² go down³³⁸¹ into the innermost parts²³¹⁵ of the belly.⁹⁹⁰

23  Burning¹⁸¹⁴ lips⁸¹⁹³ and a wicked⁷⁴⁵¹ heart³⁸²⁰ are like a potsherd²⁷⁸⁹ covered⁶⁸²³ with silver³⁷⁰¹ dross.⁵⁵⁰⁹

24  He that hateth⁸¹³⁰ dissembleth⁵²³⁴ with his lips,⁸¹⁹³ and layeth up⁷⁸⁹⁶ deceit⁴⁸²⁰ within⁷¹³⁰ him;

25  When³⁵⁸⁸ he speaketh⁶⁹⁶³ fair,²⁶⁰³ believe⁵³⁹ him not:⁴⁰⁸ for³⁵⁸⁸ there are seven⁷⁶⁵¹ abominations⁸⁴⁴¹ in his heart.³⁸²⁰

26  Whose hatred⁸¹³⁵ is covered³⁶⁸⁰ by deceit,⁴⁸⁶⁰ his wickedness⁷⁴⁵¹ shall be showed¹⁵⁴⁰ before the whole congregation.⁶⁹⁵¹

27  Whoso diggeth³⁷³⁸ a pit⁷⁸⁴⁵ shall fall⁵³⁰⁷ therein: and he that rolleth¹⁵⁵⁶ a stone,⁶⁸ it will return⁷⁷²⁵ upon⁴¹³ him.

28  A lying⁸²⁶⁷ tongue³⁹⁵⁶ hateth⁸¹³⁰ those that are afflicted¹⁷⁹⁰ by it; and a flattering²⁵⁰⁹ mouth⁶³¹⁰ worketh⁶²¹³ ruin.⁴⁰⁷²

‎8 ‏כִּצְר֣וֹר אֶ֭בֶן בְּמַרְגֵּמָ֑ה כֵּן־נוֹתֵ֖ן לִכְסִ֣יל כָּבֽוֹד׃

‎9 ‏ח֭וֹחַ עָלָ֣ה בְיַד־שִׁכּ֑וֹר וּ֝מָשָׁ֗ל בְּפִ֣י כְסִילִֽים׃

‎14 ‏הַ֭דֶּלֶת תִּסּ֣וֹב עַל־צִירָ֑הּ וְ֝עָצֵ֗ל עַל־מִטָּתֽוֹ׃

‎15 ‏טָ֘מַ֤ן עָצֵ֣ל יָ֭דוֹ בַּצַּלָּ֑חַת נִ֝לְאָ֗ה לַֽהֲשִׁיבָ֥הּ אֶל־פִּֽיו׃

‎16 ‏חָכָ֣ם עָצֵ֣ל בְּעֵינָ֑יו מִ֝שִּׁבְעָ֗ה מְשִׁ֣יבֵי טָֽעַם׃

‎17 ‏מַחֲזִ֥יק בְּאָזְנֵי־כָ֑לֶב עֹבֵ֥ר מִ֝תְעַבֵּ֗ר עַל־רִ֥יב לֹּֽא־לֽוֹ׃

‎18 ‏כְּֽ֭מִתְלַהְלֵהַּ הַיֹּרֶ֥ה זִקִּ֗ים חִצִּ֥ים וָמָֽוֶת׃

‎19 ‏כֵּֽן־אִ֭ישׁ רִמָּ֣ה אֶת־רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְ֝אָמַ֗ר הֲ‍ֽלֹא־מְשַׂחֵ֥ק אָֽנִי׃

‎20 ‏בְּאֶ֣פֶס עֵ֭צִים תִּכְבֶּה־אֵ֑שׁ וּבְאֵ֥ין נִ֝רְגָּ֗ן יִשְׁתֹּ֥ק מָדֽוֹן׃

‎21 ‏פֶּחָ֣ם לְ֭גֶחָלִים וְעֵצִ֣ים לְאֵ֑שׁ וְאִ֥ישׁ מדונים מִ֝דְיָנִ֗ים לְחַרְחַר־רִֽיב׃ פ

‎22 ‏דִּבְרֵ֣י נִ֭רְגָּן כְּמִֽתְלַהֲמִ֑ים וְ֝הֵ֗ם יָרְד֥וּ חַדְרֵי־בָֽטֶן׃

‎23 ‏כֶּ֣סֶף סִ֭יגִים מְצֻפֶּ֣ה עַל־חָ֑רֶשׂ שְׂפָתַ֖יִם דֹּלְקִ֣ים וְלֶב־רָֽע׃

‎26 ‏תִּכַּסֶּ֣ה שִׂ֭נְאָה בְּמַשָּׁא֑וֹן תִּגָּלֶ֖ה רָעָת֣וֹ בְקָהָֽל׃

7 Quomodo pulchras frustra habet claudus tibias,
sic indecens est in ore stultorum parabola.

8 Sicut qui mittit lapidem in acervum Mercurii,
ita qui tribuit insipienti honorem.

9 Quomodo si spina nascatur in manu temulenti,
sic parabola in ore stultorum.

10 Judicium determinat causas,
et qui imponit stulto silentium iras mitigat.
