Prayer on a Ship or on a Raft.
M.IV. 6. Should one be sitting in a ship, or on a raft, 3 let him direct his intention towards the most Holy Sanctuary.
B.T. III. 19. If a man wakes up early to go on a journey, behold, he takes a trumpet 1 and blows it, a Lulab 2 and shakes it, a roll of the Book of Esther 3 and reads in it, and prays (the Eighteen). Then when the time of reciting the Shma‘ arrives, behold, he recites it. 4 If he wakes up early to sit in a waggon or in a ship, behold, he prays (the Eighteen). Then when the time of reciting the Shma‘ arrives, behold, he recites it.
