SERVICE FOR THE EVE OF THE DAY OF ATONEMENT

On the day previous to the Fast of Atonement, Afternoon Service is said as on Fridays, but earlier than usual, After "who makest peace," p. 65, say "Our God . . . let our prayer come," to the end of the Amidah for the Day of Atonement; see pp. 383389.

"It is our duty," etc., p. 93. Kaddish, p. 94.

Before going to Synagogue the lamp is lighted, and the following Blessing is said:—

Blessed art thou, O Lord our God, King of the universe, who hast sanctified us by thy commandments, and commanded us to kindle the light of the [Sabbath and the] Day of Atonement.
