THE following stories are thoroughly Esthonian in character, and, with the exception of the first, mostly exhibit variants of the Kalevide’s journeys to Pōrgu.

That of “Slyboots” is also interesting from the resemblance of a portion of it to “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
