in the existence of superphysical spirits, and wrote a book concerning them entitled "D; monomanie des Sorciers." This book was inspired by his having been called upon to assist at the trial of Jean Hervillier, a native of Verbery, near Compiegne, who was burned alive the last of April, 1582.
