GAMES UNKNOWN . |
Plates XIII., XXXVII., XXXVIII., XXXIX. of the original edition are omitted; the first of these is a large picture of a tilting toy copied from a German engraving, the subject of which had been already illustrated on the previous plate; the three last are merely additional examples of "Games Unknown," and are copies of capricious illustrations out of the Bodleian MS. 264, of which no reasonable explanation can be given.
Plates III., IX., X., XI., XXXVI., together with the Frontispiece of this edition, are new, and have been specially prepared for this work.
