1  And the word¹⁶⁹⁷ of the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ came¹⁹⁶¹ unto⁴¹³ me, saying,⁵⁵⁹

2  Son¹¹²¹ of man,¹²⁰ What⁴¹⁰⁰ is¹⁹⁶¹ the vine¹⁶¹² tree⁶⁰⁸⁶ more than any^{4480 3605} tree,⁶⁰⁸⁶ or than a branch²¹⁵⁶ which⁸³⁴ is¹⁹⁶¹ among the trees⁶⁰⁸⁶ of the forest?³²⁹³

3  Shall wood⁶⁰⁸⁶ be taken³⁹⁴⁷ thereof⁴⁴⁸⁰ to do⁶²¹³ any work?⁴³⁹⁹ or⁵¹⁸ will men take³⁹⁴⁷ a pin³⁴⁸⁹ of⁴⁴⁸⁰ it to hang⁸⁵¹⁸ any³⁶⁰⁵ vessel³⁶²⁷ thereon?⁵⁹²¹

4  Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ it is cast⁵⁴¹⁴ into the fire⁷⁸⁴ for fuel;⁴⁰² the fire⁷⁸⁴ devoureth^{398 853} both⁸¹⁴⁷ the ends⁷⁰⁹⁸ of it, and the midst⁸⁴³² of it is burned.²⁷⁸⁷ Is it meet⁶⁷⁴³ for any work?⁴³⁹⁹

5  Behold,²⁰⁰⁹ when it was¹⁹⁶¹ whole,⁸⁵⁴⁹ it was meet⁶²¹³ for no³⁸⁰⁸ work:⁴³⁹⁹ how much less⁶³⁷ shall it be meet⁶²¹³ yet⁵⁷⁵⁰ for any work,⁴³⁹⁹ when³⁵⁸⁸ the fire⁷⁸⁴ hath devoured³⁹⁸ it, and it is burned?²⁷⁸⁷

6  Therefore³⁶⁵¹ thus³⁵⁴¹ saith⁵⁵⁹ the Lord¹³⁶ GOD;³⁰⁶⁹ As⁸³⁴ the vine¹⁶¹² tree⁶⁰⁸⁶ among the trees⁶⁰⁸⁶ of the forest,³²⁹³ which⁸³⁴ I have given⁵⁴¹⁴ to the fire⁷⁸⁴ for fuel,⁴⁰² so³⁶⁵¹ will I give^{5414 853} the inhabitants³⁴²⁷ of Jerusalem.³³⁸⁹

7  And I will set^{5414 853} my face⁶⁴⁴⁰ against them; they shall go out³³¹⁸ from one fire,⁷⁸⁴ and another fire⁷⁸⁴ shall devour³⁹⁸ them; and ye shall know³⁰⁴⁵ that³⁵⁸⁸ I⁵⁸⁹ am the LORD,³⁰⁶⁸ when I set^{7760 853} my face⁶⁴⁴⁰ against them.

8  And I will make^{5414 853} the land⁷⁷⁶ desolate,⁸⁰⁷⁷ because³²⁸² they have committed⁴⁶⁰³ a trespass,⁴⁶⁰⁴ saith⁵⁰⁰² the Lord¹³⁶ GOD.³⁰⁶⁹

1 καὶ ἐγένετο λόγος κυρίου πρός με λέγων

2 καὶ σύ υἱὲ ἀνθρώπου τί ἂν γένοιτο τὸ ξύλον τῆς ἀμπέλου ἐκ πάντων τῶν ξύλων τῶν κλημάτων τῶν ὄντων ἐν τοῖς ξύλοις τοῦ δρυμοῦ

3 εἰ λήμψονται ἐξ αὐτῆς ξύλον τοῦ ποιῆσαι εἰς ἐργασίαν εἰ λήμψονται ἐξ αὐτῆς πάσσαλον τοῦ κρεμάσαι ἐπ᾽ αὐτὸν πᾶν σκεῦος

4 πάρεξ πυρὶ δέδοται εἰς ἀνάλωσιν τὴν κατ᾽ ἐνιαυτὸν κάθαρσιν ἀπ᾽ αὐτῆς ἀναλίσκει τὸ πῦρ καὶ ἐκλείπει εἰς τέλος μὴ χρήσιμον ἔσται εἰς ἐργασίαν

5 οὐδὲ ἔτι αὐτοῦ ὄντος ὁλοκλήρου οὐκ ἔσται εἰς ἐργασίαν μὴ ὅτι ἐὰν καὶ πῦρ αὐτὸ ἀναλώσῃ εἰς τέλος εἰ ἔσται ἔτι εἰς ἐργασίαν

6 διὰ τοῦτο εἰπόν τάδε λέγει κύριος ὃν τρόπον τὸ ξύλον τῆς ἀμπέλου ἐν τοῖς ξύλοις τοῦ δρυμοῦ ὃ δέδωκα αὐτὸ τῷ πυρὶ εἰς ἀνάλωσιν οὕτως δέδωκα τοὺς κατοικοῦντας Ιερουσαλημ

7 καὶ δώσω τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς ἐκ τοῦ πυρὸς ἐξελεύσονται καὶ πῦρ αὐτοὺς καταφάγεται καὶ ἐπιγνώσονται ὅτι ἐγὼ κύριος ἐν τῷ στηρίσαι με τὸ πρόσωπόν μου ἐπ᾽ αὐτούς

8 καὶ δώσω τὴν γῆν εἰς ἀφανισμὸν ἀνθ᾽ ὧν παρέπεσον παραπτώματι λέγει κύριος

‎1 ‏וַיְהִ֥י דְבַר־יְהוָ֖ה אֵלַ֥י לֵאמֹֽר׃

‎2 ‏בֶּן־אָדָ֕ם מַה־יִּֽהְיֶ֥ה עֵץ־הַגֶּ֖פֶן מִכָּל־עֵ֑ץ הַזְּמוֹרָ֕ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר הָיָ֖ה בַּעֲצֵ֥י הַיָּֽעַר׃

‎3 ‏הֲיֻקַּ֤ח מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ עֵ֔ץ לַעֲשׂ֖וֹת לִמְלָאכָ֑ה אִם־יִקְח֤וּ מִמֶּ֙נּוּ֙ יָתֵ֔ד לִתְל֥וֹת עָלָ֖יו כָּל־כֶּֽלִי׃

‎4 ‏הִנֵּ֥ה לָאֵ֖שׁ נִתַּ֣ן לְאָכְלָ֑ה אֵת֩ שְׁנֵ֨י קְצוֹתָ֜יו אָכְלָ֤ה הָאֵשׁ֙ וְתוֹכ֣וֹ נָחָ֔ר הֲיִצְלַ֖ח לִמְלָאכָֽה׃

‎5 ‏הִנֵּה֙ בִּֽהְיוֹת֣וֹ תָמִ֔ים לֹ֥א יֵֽעָשֶׂ֖ה לִמְלָאכָ֑ה אַ֣ף כִּי־אֵ֤שׁ אֲכָלַ֙תְהוּ֙ וַיֵּחָ֔ר וְנַעֲשָׂ֥ה ע֖וֹד לִמְלָאכָֽה׃ ס

‎6 ‏לָכֵ֗ן כֹּ֤ה אָמַר֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה כַּאֲשֶׁ֤ר עֵץ־הַגֶּ֙פֶן֙ בְּעֵ֣ץ הַיַּ֔עַר אֲשֶׁר־נְתַתִּ֥יו לָאֵ֖שׁ לְאָכְלָ֑ה כֵּ֣ן נָתַ֔תִּי אֶת־יֹשְׁבֵ֖י יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

‎7 ‏וְנָתַתִּ֤י אֶת־פָּנַי֙ בָּהֶ֔ם מֵהָאֵ֣שׁ יָצָ֔אוּ וְהָאֵ֖שׁ תֹּֽאכְלֵ֑ם וִֽידַעְתֶּם֙ כִּֽי־אֲנִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה בְּשׂוּמִ֥י אֶת־פָּנַ֖י בָּהֶֽם׃

‎8 ‏וְנָתַתִּ֥י אֶת־הָאָ֖רֶץ שְׁמָמָ֑ה יַ֚עַן מָ֣עֲלוּ מַ֔עַל נְאֻ֖ם אֲדֹנָ֥י יְהוִֽה׃ פ

Vul

1 Et factus est sermo Domini ad me, dicens:

2 [Fili hominis, quid fiet de ligno vitis,
ex omnibus lignis nemorum
quæ sunt inter ligna silvarum?

3 numquid tolletur de ea lignum ut fiat opus,
aut fabricabitur de ea paxillus
ut dependeat in eo quodcumque vas?

4 Ecce igni datum est in escam:
utramque partem ejus consumpsit ignis,
et medietas ejus redacta est in favillam:
numquid utile erit ad opus?

5 Etiam cum esset integrum,
non erat aptum ad opus:
quanto magis cum illud ignis devoraverit et combusserit,
nihil ex eo fiet operis?

6 Propterea hæc dicit Dominus Deus:
Quomodo lignum vitis inter ligna silvarum,
quod dedi igni ad devorandum,
sic tradam habitatores Jerusalem.

7 Et ponam faciem meam in eos:
de igne egredientur,
et ignis consumet eos:
et scietis quia ego Dominus,
cum posuero faciem meam in eos,

8 et dedero terram inviam et desolatam,
eo quod prævaricatores extiterint,
dicit Dominus Deus.]
