1  He cried⁷¹²¹ also in mine ears²⁴¹ with a loud¹⁴¹⁹ voice,⁶⁹⁶³ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Cause them that have charge⁶⁴⁸⁶ over the city⁵⁸⁹² to draw near,⁷¹²⁶ even every man³⁷⁶ with his destroying⁴⁸⁹² weapon³⁶²⁷ in his hand.³⁰²⁷

2  And, behold,²⁰⁰⁹ six⁸³³⁷ men³⁷⁶ came⁹³⁵ from the way^{4480 1870} of the higher⁵⁹⁴⁵ gate,⁸¹⁷⁹ which⁸³⁴ lieth⁶⁴³⁷ toward the north,⁶⁸²⁸ and every man³⁷⁶ a slaughter⁴⁶⁶⁰ weapon³⁶²⁷ in his hand;³⁰²⁷ and one²⁵⁹ man³⁷⁶ among⁸⁴³² them was clothed³⁸⁴⁷ with linen,⁹⁰⁶ with a writer's⁵⁶⁰⁸ inkhorn⁷⁰⁸³ by his side:⁴⁹⁷⁵ and they went in,⁹³⁵ and stood⁵⁹⁷⁵ beside⁶⁸¹ the brazen⁵¹⁷⁸ altar.⁴¹⁹⁶

3  And the glory³⁵¹⁹ of the God⁴³⁰ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ was gone up⁵⁹²⁷ from^{4480 5921} the cherub,³⁷⁴² whereupon^{834 5921} he was,¹⁹⁶¹ to⁴¹³ the threshold⁴⁶⁷⁰ of the house.¹⁰⁰⁴ And he called⁷¹²¹ to⁴¹³ the man³⁷⁶ clothed³⁸⁴⁷ with linen,⁹⁰⁶ which⁸³⁴ had the writer's⁵⁶⁰⁸ inkhorn⁷⁰⁸³ by his side;⁴⁹⁷⁵

4  And the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ him, Go through⁵⁶⁷⁴ the midst⁸⁴³² of the city,⁵⁸⁹² through the midst⁸⁴³² of Jerusalem,³³⁸⁹ and set⁸⁴²⁷ a mark⁸⁴²⁰ upon⁵⁹²¹ the foreheads⁴⁶⁹⁶ of the men³⁷⁶ that sigh⁵⁸⁴ and that cry⁶⁰² for⁵⁹²¹ all³⁶⁰⁵ the abominations⁸⁴⁴¹ that be done⁶²¹³ in the midst⁸⁴³² thereof.

5  And to the others⁴²⁸ he said⁵⁵⁹ in mine hearing,²⁴¹ Go⁵⁶⁷⁴ ye after³¹⁰ him through the city,⁵⁸⁹² and smite:⁵²²¹ let not⁴⁰⁸ your eye⁵⁸⁶⁹ spare,²³⁴⁷ neither⁴⁰⁸ have ye pity:²⁵⁵⁰

6  Slay²⁰²⁶ utterly⁴⁸⁸⁹ old²²⁰⁵ and young,⁹⁷⁰ both maids,¹³³⁰ and little children,²⁹⁴⁵ and women:⁸⁰² but come not near^{5066 408 5921} any³⁶⁰⁵ man³⁷⁶ upon⁵⁹²¹ whom⁸³⁴ is the mark;⁸⁴²⁰ and begin²⁴⁹⁰ at my sanctuary.^{4480 4720} Then they began²⁴⁹⁰ at the ancient²²⁰⁵ men³⁷⁶ which⁸³⁴ were before⁶⁴⁴⁰ the house.¹⁰⁰⁴

7  And he said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ them, Defile^{2930 853} the house,¹⁰⁰⁴ and fill^{4390 853} the courts²⁶⁹¹ with the slain:²⁴⁹¹ go ye forth.³³¹⁸ And they went forth,³³¹⁸ and slew⁵²²¹ in the city.⁵⁸⁹²

8  And it came to pass,¹⁹⁶¹ while they were slaying⁵²²¹ them, and I⁵⁸⁹ was left,⁷⁶⁰⁴ that I fell⁵³⁰⁷ upon⁵⁹²¹ my face,⁶⁴⁴⁰ and cried,²¹⁹⁹ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Ah¹⁶² Lord¹³⁶ GOD!³⁰⁶⁹ wilt thou⁸⁵⁹ destroy^{7843 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the residue⁷⁶¹¹ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ in thy pouring out^{8210 853} of thy fury²⁵³⁴ upon⁵⁹²¹ Jerusalem?³³⁸⁹

9  Then said⁵⁵⁹ he unto⁴¹³ me, The iniquity⁵⁷⁷¹ of the house¹⁰⁰⁴ of Israel³⁴⁷⁸ and Judah³⁰⁶³ is exceeding^{3966 3966} great,¹⁴¹⁹ and the land⁷⁷⁶ is full⁴³⁹⁰ of blood,¹⁸¹⁸ and the city⁵⁸⁹² full⁴³⁹⁰ of perverseness:⁴²⁹⁷ for³⁵⁸⁸ they say,⁵⁵⁹ The LORD³⁰⁶⁸ hath forsaken^{5800 853} the earth,⁷⁷⁶ and the LORD³⁰⁶⁸ seeth⁷²⁰⁰ not.³⁶⁹

10  And as for me⁵⁸⁹ also,¹⁵⁷¹ mine eye⁵⁸⁶⁹ shall not³⁸⁰⁸ spare,²³⁴⁷ neither³⁸⁰⁸ will I have pity,²⁵⁵⁰ but I will recompense⁵⁴¹⁴ their way¹⁸⁷⁰ upon their head.⁷²¹⁸

11  And, behold,²⁰⁰⁹ the man³⁷⁶ clothed³⁸⁴⁷ with linen,⁹⁰⁶ which⁸³⁴ had the inkhorn⁷⁰⁸³ by his side,⁴⁹⁷⁵ reported⁷⁷²⁵ the matter,¹⁶⁹⁷ saying,⁵⁵⁹ I have done⁶²¹³ as^{3605 834} thou hast commanded⁶⁶⁸⁰ me.

1 καὶ ἀνέκραγεν εἰς τὰ ὦτά μου φωνῇ μεγάλῃ λέγων ἤγγικεν ἡ ἐκδίκησις τῆς πόλεως καὶ ἕκαστος εἶχεν τὰ σκεύη τῆς ἐξολεθρεύσεως ἐν χειρὶ αὐτοῦ

2 καὶ ἰδοὺ ἓξ ἄνδρες ἤρχοντο ἀπὸ τῆς ὁδοῦ τῆς πύλης τῆς ὑψηλῆς τῆς βλεπούσης πρὸς βορρᾶν καὶ ἑκάστου πέλυξ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ εἷς ἀνὴρ ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῶν ἐνδεδυκὼς ποδήρη καὶ ζώνη σαπφείρου ἐπὶ τῆς ὀσφύος αὐτοῦ καὶ εἰσήλθοσαν καὶ ἔστησαν ἐχόμενοι τοῦ θυσιαστηρίου τοῦ χαλκοῦ

3 καὶ δόξα θεοῦ τοῦ Ισραηλ ἀνέβη ἀπὸ τῶν χερουβιν ἡ οὖσα ἐπ᾽ αὐτῶν εἰς τὸ αἴθριον τοῦ οἴκου καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν ἄνδρα τὸν ἐνδεδυκότα τὸν ποδήρη ὃς εἶχεν ἐπὶ τῆς ὀσφύος αὐτοῦ τὴν ζώνην

4 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτόν δίελθε μέσην τὴν Ιερουσαλημ καὶ δὸς τὸ σημεῖον ἐπὶ τὰ μέτωπα τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν καταστεναζόντων καὶ τῶν κατωδυνωμένων ἐπὶ πάσαις ταῖς ἀνομίαις ταῖς γινομέναις ἐν μέσῳ αὐτῆς

5 καὶ τούτοις εἶπεν ἀκούοντός μου πορεύεσθε ὀπίσω αὐτοῦ εἰς τὴν πόλιν καὶ κόπτετε καὶ μὴ φείδεσθε τοῖς ὀφθαλμοῖς ὑμῶν καὶ μὴ ἐλεήσητε

6 πρεσβύτερον καὶ νεανίσκον καὶ παρθένον καὶ νήπια καὶ γυναῖκας ἀποκτείνατε εἰς ἐξάλειψιν ἐπὶ δὲ πάντας ἐφ᾽ οὕς ἐστιν τὸ σημεῖον μὴ ἐγγίσητε καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν ἁγίων μου ἄρξασθε καὶ ἤρξαντο ἀπὸ τῶν ἀνδρῶν τῶν πρεσβυτέρων οἳ ἦσαν ἔσω ἐν τῷ οἴκῳ

7 καὶ εἶπεν πρὸς αὐτούς μιάνατε τὸν οἶκον καὶ πλήσατε τὰς ὁδοὺς νεκρῶν ἐκπορευόμενοι καὶ κόπτετε

8 καὶ ἐγένετο ἐν τῷ κόπτειν αὐτοὺς καὶ πίπτω ἐπὶ πρόσωπόν μου καὶ ἀνεβόησα καὶ εἶπα οἴμμοι κύριε ἐξαλείφεις σὺ τοὺς καταλοίπους τοῦ Ισραηλ ἐν τῷ ἐκχέαι σε τὸν θυμόν σου ἐπὶ Ιερουσαλημ

9 καὶ εἶπεν πρός με ἀδικία τοῦ οἴκου Ισραηλ καὶ Ιουδα μεμεγάλυνται σφόδρα σφόδρα ὅτι ἐπλήσθη ἡ γῆ λαῶν πολλῶν καὶ ἡ πόλις ἐπλήσθη ἀδικίας καὶ ἀκαθαρσίας ὅτι εἶπαν ἐγκαταλέλοιπεν κύριος τὴν γῆν οὐκ ἐφορᾷ ὁ κύριος

10 καὶ οὐ φείσεταί μου ὁ ὀφθαλμός οὐδὲ μὴ ἐλεήσω τὰς ὁδοὺς αὐτῶν εἰς κεφαλὰς αὐτῶν δέδωκα

11 καὶ ἰδοὺ ὁ ἀνὴρ ὁ ἐνδεδυκὼς τὸν ποδήρη καὶ ἐζωσμένος τῇ ζώνῃ τὴν ὀσφὺν αὐτοῦ καὶ ἀπεκρίνατο λέγων πεποίηκα καθὼς ἐνετείλω μοι

‎1 ‏וַיִּקְרָ֣א בְאָזְנַ֗י ק֤וֹל גָּדוֹל֙ לֵאמֹ֔ר קָרְב֖וּ פְּקֻדּ֣וֹת הָעִ֑יר וְאִ֛ישׁ כְּלִ֥י מַשְׁחֵת֖וֹ בְּיָדֽוֹ׃

‎2 ‏וְהִנֵּ֣ה שִׁשָּׁ֣ה אֲנָשִׁ֡ים בָּאִ֣ים׀ מִדֶּרֶךְ־שַׁ֨עַר הָעֶלְי֜וֹן אֲשֶׁ֣ר׀ מָפְנֶ֣ה צָפ֗וֹנָה וְאִ֨ישׁ כְּלִ֤י מַפָּצוֹ֙ בְּיָד֔וֹ וְאִישׁ־אֶחָ֤ד בְּתוֹכָם֙ לָבֻ֣שׁ בַּדִּ֔ים וְקֶ֥סֶת הַסֹּפֵ֖ר בְּמָתְנָ֑יו וַיָּבֹ֙אוּ֙ וַיַּ֣עַמְד֔וּ אֵ֖צֶל מִזְבַּ֥ח הַנְּחֹֽשֶׁת׃

‎3 ‏וּכְב֣וֹד׀ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל נַעֲלָה֙ מֵעַ֤ל הַכְּרוּב֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר הָיָ֣ה עָלָ֔יו אֶ֖ל מִפְתַּ֣ן הַבָּ֑יִת וַיִּקְרָ֗א אֶל־הָאִישׁ֙ הַלָּבֻ֣שׁ הַבַּדִּ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֛ר קֶ֥סֶת הַסֹּפֵ֖ר בְּמָתְנָֽיו׃ ס

‎4 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יְהוָה֙ אלו אֵלָ֔יו עֲבֹר֙ בְּת֣וֹךְ הָעִ֔יר בְּת֖וֹךְ יְרֽוּשָׁלִָ֑ם וְהִתְוִ֨יתָ תָּ֜ו עַל־מִצְח֣וֹת הָאֲנָשִׁ֗ים הַנֶּֽאֱנָחִים֙ וְהַנֶּ֣אֱנָקִ֔ים עַ֚ל כָּל־הַתּ֣וֹעֵב֔וֹת הַֽנַּעֲשׂ֖וֹת בְּתוֹכָֽהּ׃

‎5 ‏וּלְאֵ֙לֶּה֙ אָמַ֣ר בְּאָזְנַ֔י עִבְר֥וּ בָעִ֛יר אַחֲרָ֖יו וְהַכּ֑וּ על־ אַל־ תָּחֹ֥ס עיניכם עֵינְכֶ֖ם וְאַל־תַּחְמֹֽלוּ׃

‎6 ‏זָקֵ֡ן בָּח֣וּר וּבְתוּלָה֩ וְטַ֨ף וְנָשִׁ֜ים תַּהַרְג֣וּ לְמַשְׁחִ֗ית וְעַל־כָּל־אִ֨ישׁ אֲשֶׁר־עָלָ֤יו הַתָּו֙ אַל־תִּגַּ֔שׁוּ וּמִמִּקְדָּשִׁ֖י תָּחֵ֑לּוּ וַיָּחֵ֙לּוּ֙ בָּאֲנָשִׁ֣ים הַזְּקֵנִ֔ים אֲשֶׁ֖ר לִפְנֵ֥י הַבָּֽיִת׃

‎7 ‏וַיֹּ֨אמֶר אֲלֵיהֶ֜ם טַמְּא֣וּ אֶת־הַבַּ֗יִת וּמַלְא֧וּ אֶת־הַחֲצֵר֛וֹת חֲלָלִ֖ים צֵ֑אוּ וְיָצְא֖וּ וְהִכּ֥וּ בָעִֽיר׃

‎8 ‏וַֽיְהִי֙ כְּהַכּוֹתָ֔ם וְנֵֽאשֲׁאַ֖ר אָ֑נִי וָאֶפְּלָ֨ה עַל־פָּנַ֜י וָאֶזְעַ֗ק וָֽאֹמַר֙ אֲהָהּ֙ אֲדֹנָ֣י יְהוִ֔ה הֲמַשְׁחִ֣ית אַתָּ֗ה אֵ֚ת כָּל־שְׁאֵרִ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֔ל בְּשָׁפְכְּךָ֥ אֶת־חֲמָתְךָ֖ עַל־יְרוּשָׁלִָֽם׃

‎9 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר אֵלַ֗י עֲוֹ֨ן בֵּֽית־יִשְׂרָאֵ֤ל וִֽיהוּדָה֙ גָּדוֹל֙ בִּמְאֹ֣ד מְאֹ֔ד וַתִּמָּלֵ֤א הָאָ֙רֶץ֙ דָּמִ֔ים וְהָעִ֖יר מָלְאָ֣ה מֻטֶּ֑ה כִּ֣י אָמְר֗וּ עָזַ֤ב יְהוָה֙ אֶת־הָאָ֔רֶץ וְאֵ֥ין יְהוָ֖ה רֹאֶֽה׃

‎10 ‏וְגַ֨ם־אֲנִ֔י לֹא־תָח֥וֹס עֵינִ֖י וְלֹ֣א אֶחְמֹ֑ל דַּרְכָּ֖ם בְּרֹאשָׁ֥ם נָתָֽתִּי׃

‎11 ‏וְהִנֵּ֞ה הָאִ֣ישׁ׀ לְבֻ֣שׁ הַבַּדִּ֗ים אֲשֶׁ֤ר הַקֶּ֙סֶת֙ בְּמָתְנָ֔יו מֵשִׁ֥יב דָּבָ֖ר לֵאמֹ֑ר עָשִׂ֕יתִי כאשר כְּכֹ֖ל³ אֲשֶׁ֥ר צִוִּיתָֽנִי׃ ס

Vul

1 Et clamavit in auribus meis voce magna, dicens: Appropinquaverunt visitationes urbis, et unusquisque vas interfectionis habet in manu sua.

2 Et ecce sex viri veniebant de via portæ superioris, quæ respicit ad aquilonem, et uniuscujusque vas interitus in manu ejus: vir quoque unus in medio eorum vestitus erat lineis, et atramentarium scriptoris ad renes ejus: et ingressi sunt, et steterunt juxta altare æreum.

3 Et gloria Domini Israël assumpta est de cherub, quæ erat super eum ad limen domus: et vocavit virum qui indutus erat lineis, et atramentarium scriptoris habebat in lumbis suis:

4 et dixit Dominus ad eum: Transi per mediam civitatem, in medio Jerusalem, et signa thau super frontes virorum gementium et dolentium super cunctis abominationibus quæ fiunt in medio ejus.

5 Et illis dixit, audiente me: Transite per civitatem sequentes eum, et percutite: non parcat oculus vester, neque misereamini:

6 senem, adolescentulum et virginem, parvulum et mulieres interficite usque ad internecionem: omnem autem super quem videritis thau, ne occidatis: et a sanctuario meo incipite. Cœperunt ergo a viris senioribus, qui erant ante faciem domus.

7 Et dixit ad eos: Contaminate domum, et implete atria interfectis; egredimini. Et egressi sunt, et percutiebant eos qui erant in civitate.

8 Et cæde completa, remansi ego, ruique super faciem meam, et clamans aio: Heu! heu! heu! Domine Deus: ergone disperdes omnes reliquias Israël, effundens furorem tuum super Jerusalem?

9 Et dixit ad me: Iniquitas domus Israël et Juda magna est nimis valde, et repleta est terra sanguinibus, et civitas repleta est aversione: dixerunt enim: Dereliquit Dominus terram, et Dominus non videt.

10 Igitur et meus non parcet oculus, neque miserebor: viam eorum super caput eorum reddam.

11 Et ecce vir qui erat indutus lineis, qui habebat atramentarium in dorso suo, respondit verbum, dicens: Feci sicut præcepisti mihi.
