Acts 21

GNT

37 μέλλων τε εἰσάγεσθαι εἰς τὴν παρεμβολὴν ὁ παῦλος λέγει τῶ χιλιάρχῳ, εἰ ἔξεστίν μοι εἰπεῖν τι πρὸς σέ; ὁ δὲ ἔφη, ἑλληνιστὶ γινώσκεις;

38 οὐκ ἄρα σὺ εἶ ὁ αἰγύπτιος ὁ πρὸ τούτων τῶν ἡμερῶν ἀναστατώσας καὶ ἐξαγαγὼν εἰς τὴν ἔρημον τοὺς τετρακισχιλίους ἄνδρας τῶν σικαρίων;

11  And2532 when he was come2064 unto4314 us,2248 he2532 took142 Paul's3972 girdle,2223 and5037 bound1210 his own848 hands5495 and2532 feet,4228 and said,2036 Thus3592 saith3004 the3588 Holy40 Ghost,4151 So3779 shall the3588 Jews2453 at1722 Jerusalem2419 bind1210 the3588 man435 that3739 owneth2076 this3778 girdle,2223 and2532 shall deliver3860 him into1519 the hands5495 of the Gentiles.1484

12  And1161 when5613 we heard191 these things,5023 both5037 we,2249 and2532 they of that place,1786 besought3870 him846 not3361 to go up305 to1519 Jerusalem.2419

13  Then1161 Paul3972 answered,611 What5101 mean4160 ye to weep2799 and2532 to break4919 mine3450 heart?2588 for1063 I1473 am2192 ready2093 not3756 to be bound1210 only,3440 but235 also2532 to die599 at1519 Jerusalem2419 for5228 the3588 name3686 of the3588 Lord2962 Jesus.2424

14  And1161 when he846 would not3361 be persuaded,3982 we ceased,2270 saying,2036 The3588 will2307 of the3588 Lord2962 be done.1096

15  And1161 after3326 those5025 days2250 we took up our carriages,643 and went up305 to1519 Jerusalem.2419

16  There1161 went4905 with4862 us2254 also2532 certain of the3588 disciples3101 of575 Caesarea,2542 and brought71 with them one5100 Mnason3416 of Cyprus,2953 an old744 disciple,3101 with3844 whom3739 we should lodge.3579

17  And1161 when we2257 were come1096 to1519 Jerusalem,2414 the3588 brethren80 received1209 us2248 gladly.780

18  And1161 the3588 day following1966 Paul3972 went in1524 with4862 us2254 unto4314 James;2385 and5037 all3956 the3588 elders4245 were present.3854

19  And2532 when he had saluted782 them,846 he declared1834 particularly2596 1520 1538 what things3739 God2316 had wrought4160 among1722 the3588 Gentiles1484 by1223 his848 ministry.1248

20  And1161 when they3588 heard191 it, they glorified1392 the3588 Lord,2962 and5037 said2036 unto him,846 Thou seest,2334 brother,80 how many4214 thousands3461 of Jews2453 there are1526 which believe;4100 and2532 they are5225 all3956 zealous2207 of the3588 law:3551

21  And1161 they are informed2727 of4012 thee,4675 that3754 thou teachest1321 all3956 the Jews2453 which3588 are among2596 the3588 Gentiles1484 to forsake646 Moses,3475 saying3004 that they846 ought not3361 to circumcise4059 their children,5043 neither3366 to walk4043 after the3588 customs.1485

22  What5101 is2076 it therefore?3767 the multitude4128 must1163 needs3843 come together:4905 for1063 they will hear191 that3754 thou art come.2064

23  Do4160 therefore3767 this5124 that3739 we say3004 to thee:4671 We2254 have1526 four5064 men435 which have2192 a vow2171 on1909 them;1438

24  Them5128 take,3880 and purify48 thyself with4862 them,846 and2532 be at charges1159 with1909 them,846 that2443 they may shave3587 their heads:2776 and2532 all3956 may know1097 that3754 those things, whereof3739 they were informed2727 concerning4012 thee,4675 are2076 nothing;3762 but235 that thou848 thyself also2532 walkest orderly,4748 and keepest5442 the3588 law.3551

25  1161 As touching4012 the3588 Gentiles1484 which believe,4100 we2249 have written1989 and concluded2919 that they846 observe5083 no3367 such thing,5108 save1508 only that they keep5442 themselves846 from5037 things offered to idols,1494 and2532 from blood,129 and2532 from strangled,4156 and2532 from fornication.4202

26  Then5119 Paul3972 took3880 the3588 men,435 and the3588 next2192 day2250 purifying48 himself with4862 them846 entered1524 into1519 the3588 temple,2411 to signify1229 the3588 accomplishment1604 of the3588 days2250 of purification,49 until2193 3757 that an offering4376 should be offered4374 for5228 every1538 one1520 of them.846

27  And1161 when5613 the3588 seven2033 days2250 were almost3195 ended,4931 the3588 Jews2453 which were of575 Asia,773 when they saw2300 him846 in1722 the3588 temple,2411 stirred up4797 all3956 the3588 people,3793 and2532 laid1911 hands5495 on1909 him,846

28  Crying out,2896 Men435 of Israel,2475 help:997 This3778 is2076 the3588 man,444 that teacheth1321 all3956 men every where3837 against2596 the3588 people,2992 and2532 the3588 law,3551 and2532 this5127 place:5117 and5037 further2089 brought1521 Greeks1672 also2532 into1519 the3588 temple,2411 and2532 hath polluted2840 this5126 holy40 place.5117

29  (For1063 they had2258 seen before4308 with4862 him846 in1722 the3588 city4172 Trophimus5161 an Ephesian,2180 whom3739 they supposed3543 that3754 Paul3972 had brought1521 into1519 the3588 temple.)2411

30  And5037 all3650 the3588 city4172 was moved,2795 and2532 the3588 people2992 ran together:1096 4890 and2532 they took1949 Paul,3972 and drew1670 him846 out1854 of the3588 temple:2411 and2532 forthwith2112 the3588 doors2374 were shut.2808

31  And1161 as they went about2212 to kill615 him,846 tidings5334 came305 unto the3588 chief captain5506 of the3588 band,4686 that3754 all3650 Jerusalem2419 was in an uproar.4797

32  Who3739 immediately1824 took3880 soldiers4757 and2532 centurions,1543 and ran down2701 unto1909 them:846 and1161 when they3588 saw1492 the3588 chief captain5506 and2532 the3588 soldiers,4757 they left3973 beating5180 of Paul.3972

33  Then5119 the3588 chief captain5506 came near,1448 and took1949 him,846 and2532 commanded2753 him to be bound1210 with two1417 chains;254 and2532 demanded4441 who5101 he was,1498 302 and2532 what5101 he had2076 done.4160

34  And1161 some cried one thing, some another,243 994 243 5100 among1722 the3588 multitude:3793 and1161 when he could1410 not3361 know1097 the3588 certainty804 for1223 the3588 tumult,2351 he commanded2753 him846 to be carried71 into1519 the3588 castle.3925

35  And1161 when3753 he came1096 upon1909 the3588 stairs,304 so it was,4819 that he846 was borne941 of5259 the3588 soldiers4757 for1223 the3588 violence970 of the3588 people.3793

36  For1063 the3588 multitude4128 of the3588 people2992 followed after,190 crying,2896 Away142 with him.846

37  And5037 as Paul3972 was3195 to be led1521 into1519 the3588 castle,3925 he said3004 unto the3588 chief captain,5506 1487 May1832 I3427 speak2036 unto4314 thee?4571 1161 Who3588 said,5346 Canst thou speak Greek?1097 1676

38  Art1488 not3756 thou4771 that686 Egyptian,124 which before4253 these5130 days2250 madest an uproar,387 and2532 leddest out1806 into1519 the3588 wilderness2048 four thousand5070 men435 that were murderers?4607

39  But1161 Paul3972 said,2036 I1473 am1510 a man444 which3303 am a Jew2453 of Tarsus,5018 a city in Cilicia,2791 a citizen4177 of no3756 mean767 city:4172 and,1161 I beseech1189 thee,4675 suffer2010 me3427 to speak2980 unto4314 the3588 people.2992

40  And1161 when he846 had given him license,2010 Paul3972 stood2476 on1909 the3588 stairs,304 and beckoned2678 with the3588 hand5495 unto the3588 people.2992 And1161 when there was made1096 a great4183 silence,4602 he spake unto4377 them in the3588 Hebrew1446 tongue,1258 saying,3004

1  And1161 it5613 came to pass,1096 that after we2248 were gotten645 from575 them,846 and had launched,321 we came2064 with a straight course2113 unto1519 Coos,2972 and1161 the3588 day following1836 unto1519 Rhodes,4499 and from thence2547 unto1519 Patara:3959

2  And2532 finding2147 a ship4143 sailing over1276 unto1519 Phoenicia,5403 we went aboard,1910 and set forth.321

3  Now1161 when we had discovered398 Cyprus,2954 we2532 left2641 it846 on the left hand,2176 and sailed4126 into1519 Syria,4947 and2532 landed2609 at1519 Tyre:5184 for1063 there1566 the3588 ship4143 was2258 to unlade670 her burden.1117

4  And2532 finding429 disciples3101 we tarried1961 there847 seven2033 days:2250 who3748 said3004 to Paul3972 through1223 the3588 Spirit,4151 that he should not3361 go up305 to1519 Jerusalem.2419

5  And1161 when3753 we2248 had1096 accomplished1822 those days,2250 we departed1831 and went our way;4198 and they all3956 brought us on our way,4311 2248 with4862 wives1135 and2532 children,5043 till2193 we were out1854 of the3588 city:4172 and2532 we kneeled down5087 1119 on1909 the3588 shore,123 and prayed.4336

6  And2532 when we had taken our leave782 one of another,240 we took ship;1910 1519 4143 and1161 they1565 returned5290 home again.1519 2398

7  And1161 when we2249 had finished1274 our course4144 from575 Tyre,5184 we came2658 to1519 Ptolemais,4424 and2532 saluted782 the3588 brethren,80 and abode3306 with3844 them846 one3391 day.2250

8  And1161 the3588 next1887 day we that were of Paul's company4012 3972 departed,1831 and came2064 unto1519 Caesarea:2542 and2532 we entered1525 into1519 the3588 house3624 of Philip5376 the3588 evangelist,2099 which was5607 was5607 one of1537 the3588 seven;2033 and abode3306 with3844 him.846

Vul
