1  Then Joseph³¹³⁰ came⁹³⁵ and told⁵⁰⁴⁶ Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ and said,⁵⁵⁹ My father¹ and my brethren,²⁵¹ and their flocks,⁶⁶²⁹ and their herds,¹²⁴¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ that⁸³⁴ they have, are come⁹³⁵ out of the land^{4480 776} of Canaan;³⁶⁶⁷ and, behold,²⁰⁰⁹ they are in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Goshen.¹⁶⁵⁷

2  And he took³⁹⁴⁷ some^{4480 7097} of his brethren,²⁵¹ even five²⁵⁶⁸ men,³⁷⁶ and presented³³²² them unto⁶⁴⁴⁰ Pharaoh.⁶⁵⁴⁷

3  And Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ his brethren,²⁵¹ What⁴¹⁰⁰ is your occupation?⁴⁶³⁹ And they said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ Thy servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ are shepherds,^{7462 6629} both¹⁵⁷¹ we,⁵⁸⁷ and also¹⁵⁷¹ our fathers.¹

4  They said⁵⁵⁹ moreover unto⁴¹³ Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ For to sojourn¹⁴⁸¹ in the land⁷⁷⁶ are we come;⁹³⁵ for^{3588 834} thy servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ have no³⁶⁹ pasture⁴⁸²⁹ for their flocks;⁶⁶²⁹ for³⁵⁸⁸ the famine⁷⁴⁵⁸ is sore³⁵¹⁵ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Canaan:³⁶⁶⁷ now⁶²⁵⁸ therefore, we pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ let thy servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ dwell³⁴²⁷ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Goshen.¹⁶⁵⁷

5  And Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ spoke⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Joseph,³¹³⁰ saying,⁵⁵⁹ Thy father¹ and thy brethren²⁵¹ are come⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ thee:

6  The land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ is before⁶⁴⁴⁰ thee; in the best⁴³¹⁵ of the land⁷⁷⁶ make ⁸⁵³ thy father¹ and brethren²⁵¹ to dwell;³⁴²⁷ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Goshen¹⁶⁵⁷ let them dwell:³⁴²⁷ and if⁵¹⁸ thou knowest³⁰⁴⁵ any men³⁷⁶ of activity²⁴²⁸ among them, then make⁷⁷⁶⁰ them rulers⁸²⁶⁹ over my^{5921 834} cattle.⁴⁷³⁵

7  And Joseph³¹³⁰ brought in^{935 853} Jacob³²⁹⁰ his father,¹ and set⁵⁹⁷⁵ him before⁶⁴⁴⁰ Pharaoh:⁶⁵⁴⁷ and Jacob³²⁹⁰ blessed^{1288 853} Pharaoh.⁶⁵⁴⁷

8  And Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Jacob,³²⁹⁰ How⁴¹⁰⁰ old^{3117 8141 2416} art thou?

9  And Jacob³²⁹⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ The days³¹¹⁷ of the years⁸¹⁴¹ of my pilgrimage⁴⁰³³ are a hundred³⁹⁶⁷ and thirty⁷⁹⁷⁰ years:⁸¹⁴¹ few⁴⁵⁹² and evil⁷⁴⁵¹ have the days³¹¹⁷ of the years⁸¹⁴¹ of my life²⁴¹⁶ been,¹⁹⁶¹ and have not³⁸⁰⁸ attained unto^{5381 853} the days³¹¹⁷ of the years⁸¹⁴¹ of the life²⁴¹⁶ of my fathers¹ in the days³¹¹⁷ of their pilgrimage.⁴⁰³³

10  And Jacob³²⁹⁰ blessed^{1288 853} Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ and went out³³¹⁸ from before^{4480 6440} Pharaoh.⁶⁵⁴⁷

11  And Joseph³¹³⁰ placed^{3427 853} his father¹ and his brethren,²⁵¹ and gave⁵⁴¹⁴ them a possession²⁷² in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ in the best⁴³¹⁵ of the land,⁷⁷⁶ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Rameses,⁷⁴⁸⁶ as⁸³⁴ Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ had commanded.⁶⁶⁸⁰

12  And Joseph³¹³⁰ nourished^{3557 853} his father,¹ and his brethren,²⁵¹ and all³⁶⁰⁵ his father's¹ household,¹⁰⁰⁴ with bread,³⁸⁹⁹ according to⁶³¹⁰ their families.²⁹⁴⁵

13  And there was no³⁶⁹ bread³⁸⁹⁹ in all³⁶⁰⁵ the land;⁷⁷⁶ for³⁵⁸⁸ the famine⁷⁴⁵⁸ was very³⁹⁶⁶ sore,³⁵¹⁵ so that the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ and all the land⁷⁷⁶ of Canaan³⁶⁶⁷ fainted³⁸⁵⁶ by reason of^{4480 6440} the famine.⁷⁴⁵⁸

14  And Joseph³¹³⁰ gathered up^{3950 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the money³⁷⁰¹ that was found⁴⁶⁷² in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ and in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Canaan,³⁶⁶⁷ for the corn⁷⁶⁶⁸ which⁸³⁴ they¹⁹⁹² bought:⁷⁶⁶⁶ and Joseph³¹³⁰ brought^{935 853} the money³⁷⁰¹ into Pharaoh's⁶⁵⁴⁷ house.¹⁰⁰⁴

15  And when money³⁷⁰¹ failed⁸⁵⁵² in the land^{4480 776} of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ and in the land^{4480 776} of Canaan,³⁶⁶⁷ all³⁶⁰⁵ the Egyptians⁴⁷¹⁴ came⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ Joseph,³¹³⁰ and said,⁵⁵⁹ Give³⁰⁵¹ us bread:³⁸⁹⁹ for why⁴¹⁰⁰ should we die⁴¹⁹¹ in thy presence?⁵⁰⁴⁸ for³⁵⁸⁸ the money³⁷⁰¹ faileth.⁶⁵⁶

16  And Joseph³¹³⁰ said,⁵⁵⁹ Give³⁰⁵¹ your cattle;⁴⁷³⁵ and I will give⁵⁴¹⁴ you for your cattle,⁴⁷³⁵ if⁵¹⁸ money³⁷⁰¹ fail.⁶⁵⁶

17  And they brought^{935 853} their cattle⁴⁷³⁵ unto⁴¹³ Joseph:³¹³⁰ and Joseph³¹³⁰ gave⁵⁴¹⁴ them bread³⁸⁹⁹ in exchange for horses,⁵⁴⁸³ and for the flocks,^{4735 6629} and for the cattle⁴⁷³⁵ of the herds,¹²⁴¹ and for the asses:²⁵⁴³ and he fed⁵⁰⁹⁵ them with bread³⁸⁹⁹ for all³⁶⁰⁵ their cattle⁴⁷³⁵ for that¹⁹³¹ year.⁸¹⁴¹

18  When that¹⁹³¹ year⁸¹⁴¹ was ended,⁸⁵⁵² they came⁹³⁵ unto⁴¹³ him the second⁸¹⁴⁵ year,⁸¹⁴¹ and said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, We will not³⁸⁰⁸ hide³⁵⁸² it from⁴⁴⁸⁰ my lord,¹¹³ how that^{3588 518} our money³⁷⁰¹ is spent;⁸⁵⁵² my lord¹¹³ also hath⁴¹³ our herds⁴⁷³⁵ of cattle;⁹²⁹ there is not³⁸⁰⁸ aught left⁷⁶⁰⁴ in the sight⁶⁴⁴⁰ of my lord,¹¹³ but^{1115 518} our bodies,¹⁴⁷² and our lands:¹²⁷

19  Wherefore⁴¹⁰⁰ shall we die⁴¹⁹¹ before thine eyes,⁵⁸⁶⁹ both¹⁵⁷¹ we⁵⁸⁷ and¹⁵⁷¹ our land?¹²⁷ buy⁷⁰⁶⁹ us and our land¹²⁷ for bread,³⁸⁹⁹ and we⁵⁸⁷ and our land¹²⁷ will be¹⁹⁶¹ servants⁵⁶⁵⁰ unto Pharaoh:⁶⁵⁴⁷ and give⁵⁴¹⁴ us seed,²²³³ that we may live,²⁴²¹ and not³⁸⁰⁸ die,⁴¹⁹¹ that the land¹²⁷ be not desolate.^{3456 3808}

20  And Joseph³¹³⁰ bought^{7069 853} all³⁶⁰⁵ the land¹²⁷ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ for Pharaoh;⁶⁵⁴⁷ for³⁵⁸⁸ the Egyptians⁴⁷¹⁴ sold⁴³⁷⁶ every man³⁷⁶ his field,⁷⁷⁰⁴ because³⁵⁸⁸ the famine⁷⁴⁵⁸ prevailed²³⁸⁸ over⁵⁹²¹ them: so the land⁷⁷⁶ became¹⁹⁶¹ Pharaoh's.⁶⁵⁴⁷

21  And as for the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ he removed⁵⁶⁷⁴ them to cities⁵⁸⁹² from one end^{4480 7097} of the borders¹³⁶⁶ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ even to⁵⁷⁰⁴ the other end⁷⁰⁹⁷ thereof.

22  Only⁷⁵³⁵ the land¹²⁷ of the priests³⁵⁴⁸ bought⁷⁰⁶⁹ he not;³⁸⁰⁸ for³⁵⁸⁸ the priests³⁵⁴⁸ had a portion²⁷⁰⁶ assigned them of^{4480 854} Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ and did eat^{398 853} their portion²⁷⁰⁶ which⁸³⁴ Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ gave⁵⁴¹⁴ them: wherefore^{5921 3651} they sold⁴³⁷⁶ not^{3808 853} their lands.¹²⁷

23  Then Joseph³¹³⁰ said⁵⁵⁹ unto⁴¹³ the people,⁵⁹⁷¹ Behold,²⁰⁰⁵ I have bought⁷⁰⁶⁹ you this day³¹¹⁷ and your land¹²⁷ for Pharaoh:⁶⁵⁴⁷ lo,¹⁸⁸⁷ here is seed²²³³ for you, and ye shall sow^{2232 853} the land.¹²⁷

24  And it shall come to pass¹⁹⁶¹ in the increase,⁸³⁹³ that ye shall give⁵⁴¹⁴ the fifth²⁵⁴⁹ part unto Pharaoh,⁶⁵⁴⁷ and four⁷⁰² parts³⁰²⁷ shall be¹⁹⁶¹ your own, for seed²²³³ of the field,⁷⁷⁰⁴ and for your food,⁴⁰⁰ and for them⁸³⁴ of your households,¹⁰⁰⁴ and for food³⁹⁸ for your little ones.²⁹⁴⁵

25  And they said,⁵⁵⁹ Thou hast saved our lives:²⁴²¹ let us find⁴⁶⁷² grace²⁵⁸⁰ in the sight⁵⁸⁶⁹ of my lord,¹¹³ and we will be¹⁹⁶¹ Pharaoh's⁶⁵⁴⁷ servants.⁵⁶⁵⁰

26  And Joseph³¹³⁰ made⁷⁷⁶⁰ it a law²⁷⁰⁶ over⁵⁹²¹ the land¹²⁷ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ unto⁵⁷⁰⁴ this²⁰⁸⁸ day,³¹¹⁷ that Pharaoh⁶⁵⁴⁷ should have the fifth²⁵⁶⁹ part; except⁷⁵³⁵ the land¹²⁷ of the priests³⁵⁴⁸ only,⁹⁰⁵ which became¹⁹⁶¹ not³⁸⁰⁸ Pharaoh's.⁶⁵⁴⁷

27  And Israel³⁴⁷⁸ dwelt³⁴²⁷ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt,⁴⁷¹⁴ in the country⁷⁷⁶ of Goshen;¹⁶⁵⁷ and they had possessions²⁷⁰ therein, and grew,⁶⁵⁰⁹ and multiplied⁷²³⁵ exceedingly.³⁹⁶⁶

28  And Jacob³²⁹⁰ lived²⁴²¹ in the land⁷⁷⁶ of Egypt⁴⁷¹⁴ seventeen^{7651 6240} years:⁸¹⁴¹ so the whole age^{3117 8141 2416} of Jacob³²⁹⁰ was¹⁹⁶¹ a hundred³⁹⁶⁷ forty⁷⁰⁵ and seven⁷⁶⁵¹ years.⁸¹⁴¹

29  And the time³¹¹⁷ drew nigh⁷¹²⁶ that Israel³⁴⁷⁸ must die:⁴¹⁹¹ and he called⁷¹²¹ his son¹¹²¹ Joseph,³¹³⁰ and said⁵⁵⁹ unto him, If⁵¹⁸ now⁴⁹⁹⁴ I have found⁴⁶⁷² grace²⁵⁸⁰ in thy sight,⁵⁸⁶⁹ put,⁷⁷⁶⁰ I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ thy hand³⁰²⁷ under⁸⁴⁷⁸ my thigh,³⁴⁰⁹ and deal⁶²¹³ kindly²⁶¹⁷ and truly⁵⁷¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ me; bury⁶⁹¹² me not,⁴⁰⁸ I pray thee,⁴⁹⁹⁴ in Egypt:⁴⁷¹⁴

30  But I will lie⁷⁹⁰¹ with⁵⁹⁷³ my fathers,¹ and thou shalt carry⁵³⁷⁵ me out of Egypt,^{4480 4714} and bury⁶⁹¹² me in their burial place.⁶⁹⁰⁰ And he said,⁵⁵⁹ I⁵⁹⁵ will do⁶²¹³ as thou hast said.¹⁶⁹⁷

31  And he said,⁵⁵⁹ Swear⁷⁶⁵⁰ unto me. And he swore⁷⁶⁵⁰ unto him. And Israel³⁴⁷⁸ bowed himself⁷⁸¹² upon⁵⁹²¹ the bed's⁴²⁹⁶ head.⁷²¹⁸

1 ἐλθὼν δὲ Ιωσηφ ἀπήγγειλεν τῷ Φαραω λέγων ὁ πατήρ μου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί μου καὶ τὰ κτήνη καὶ οἱ βόες αὐτῶν καὶ πάντα τὰ αὐτῶν ἦλθον ἐκ γῆς Χανααν καὶ ἰδού εἰσιν ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ

2 ἀπὸ δὲ τῶν ἀδελφῶν αὐτοῦ παρέλαβεν πέντε ἄνδρας καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτοὺς ἐναντίον Φαραω

3 καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς Ιωσηφ τί τὸ ἔργον ὑμῶν οἱ δὲ εἶπαν τῷ Φαραω ποιμένες προβάτων οἱ παῖδές σου καὶ ἡμεῖς καὶ οἱ πατέρες ἡμῶν

4 εἶπαν δὲ τῷ Φαραω παροικεῖν ἐν τῇ γῇ ἥκαμεν οὐ γάρ ἐστιν νομὴ τοῖς κτήνεσιν τῶν παίδων σου ἐνίσχυσεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς ἐν γῇ Χανααν νῦν οὖν κατοικήσομεν οἱ παῖδές σου ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ

5 εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιωσφη κατοικείτωσαν ἐν γῇ Γεσεμ εἰ δὲ ἐπίστῃ ὅτι εἰσὶν ἐν αὐτοῖς ἄνδρες δυνατοί κατάστησον αὐτοὺς ἄρχοντας τῶν ἐμῶν κτηνῶν ἦλθον δὲ εἰς Αἴγυπτον πρὸς Ιωσηφ Ιακωβ καὶ οἱ υἱοὶ αὐτοῦ καὶ ἤκουσεν Φαραω βασιλεὺς Αἰγύπτου καὶ εἶπεν Φαραω πρὸς Ιωσηφ λέγων ὁ πατήρ σου καὶ οἱ ἀδελφοί σου ἥκασι πρὸς σέ

6 ἰδοὺ ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου ἐναντίον σού ἐστιν ἐν τῇ βελτίστῃ γῇ κατοίκισον τὸν πατέρα σου καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφούς σου

7 εἰσήγαγεν δὲ Ιωσηφ Ιακωβ τὸν πατέρα αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔστησεν αὐτὸν ἐναντίον Φαραω καὶ εὐλόγησεν Ιακωβ τὸν Φαραω

8 εἶπεν δὲ Φαραω τῷ Ιακωβ πόσα ἔτη ἡμερῶν τῆς ζωῆς σου

9 καὶ εἶπεν Ιακωβ τῷ Φαραω αἱ ἡμέραι τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς μου ἃς παροικῶ ἑκατὸν τριάκοντα ἔτη μικραὶ καὶ πονηραὶ γεγόνασιν αἱ ἡμέραι τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς μου οὐκ ἀφίκοντο εἰς τὰς ἡμέρας τῶν ἐτῶν τῆς ζωῆς τῶν πατέρων μου ἃς ἡμέρας παρῴκησαν

10 καὶ εὐλογήσας Ιακωβ τὸν Φαραω ἐξῆλθεν ἀπ᾽ αὐτοῦ

11 καὶ κατῴκισεν Ιωσηφ τὸν πατέρα καὶ τοὺς ἀδελφοὺς αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς κατάσχεσιν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου ἐν τῇ βελτίστῃ γῇ ἐν γῇ Ραμεσση καθὰ προσέταξεν Φαραω

12 καὶ ἐσιτομέτρει Ιωσηφ τῷ πατρὶ καὶ τοῖς ἀδελφοῖς αὐτοῦ καὶ παντὶ τῷ οἴκῳ τοῦ πατρὸς αὐτοῦ σῖτον κατὰ σῶμα

13 σῖτος δὲ οὐκ ἦν ἐν πάσῃ τῇ γῇ ἐνίσχυσεν γὰρ ὁ λιμὸς σφόδρα ἐξέλιπεν δὲ ἡ γῆ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἡ γῆ Χανααν ἀπὸ τοῦ λιμοῦ

14 συνήγαγεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον τὸ εὑρεθὲν ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐν γῇ Χανααν τοῦ σίτου οὗ ἠγόραζον καὶ ἐσιτομέτρει αὐτοῖς καὶ εἰσήνεγκεν Ιωσηφ πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον εἰς τὸν οἶκον Φαραω

15 καὶ ἐξέλιπεν πᾶν τὸ ἀργύριον ἐκ γῆς Αἰγύπτου καὶ ἐκ γῆς Χανααν ἦλθον δὲ πάντες οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι πρὸς Ιωσηφ λέγοντες δὸς ἡμῖν ἄρτους καὶ ἵνα τί ἀποθνῄσκομεν ἐναντίον σου ἐκλέλοιπεν γὰρ τὸ ἀργύριον ἡμῶν

16 εἶπεν δὲ αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ φέρετε τὰ κτήνη ὑμῶν καὶ δώσω ὑμῖν ἄρτους ἀντὶ τῶν κτηνῶν ὑμῶν εἰ ἐκλέλοιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον

17 ἤγαγον δὲ τὰ κτήνη πρὸς Ιωσηφ καὶ ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ ἄρτους ἀντὶ τῶν ἵππων καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν προβάτων καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν βοῶν καὶ ἀντὶ τῶν ὄνων καὶ ἐξέθρεψεν αὐτοὺς ἐν ἄρτοις ἀντὶ πάντων τῶν κτηνῶν αὐτῶν ἐν τῷ ἐνιαυτῷ ἐκείνῳ

18 ἐξῆλθεν δὲ τὸ ἔτος ἐκεῖνο καὶ ἦλθον πρὸς αὐτὸν ἐν τῷ ἔτει τῷ δευτέρῳ καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ μήποτε ἐκτριβῶμεν ἀπὸ τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν εἰ γὰρ ἐκλέλοιπεν τὸ ἀργύριον καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα καὶ τὰ κτήνη πρὸς σὲ τὸν κύριον καὶ οὐχ ὑπολείπεται ἡμῖν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν ἀλλ᾽ ἢ τὸ ἴδιον σῶμα καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν

19 ἵνα οὖν μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν ἐναντίον σου καὶ ἡ γῆ ἐρημωθῇ κτῆσαι ἡμᾶς καὶ τὴν γῆν ἡμῶν ἀντὶ ἄρτων καὶ ἐσόμεθα ἡμεῖς καὶ ἡ γῆ ἡμῶν παῖδες Φαραω δὸς σπέρμα ἵνα σπείρωμεν καὶ ζῶμεν καὶ μὴ ἀποθάνωμεν καὶ ἡ γῆ οὐκ ἐρημωθήσεται

20 καὶ ἐκτήσατο Ιωσηφ πᾶσαν τὴν γῆν τῶν Αἰγυπτίων τῷ Φαραω ἀπέδοντο γὰρ οἱ Αἰγύπτιοι τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν τῷ Φαραω ἐπεκράτησεν γὰρ αὐτῶν ὁ λιμός καὶ ἐγένετο ἡ γῆ Φαραω

21 καὶ τὸν λαὸν κατεδουλώσατο αὐτῷ εἰς παῖδας ἀπ᾽ ἄκρων ὁρίων Αἰγύπτου ἕως τῶν ἄκρων

22 χωρὶς τῆς γῆς τῶν ἱερέων μόνον οὐκ ἐκτήσατο ταύτην Ιωσηφ ἐν δόσει γὰρ ἔδωκεν δόμα τοῖς ἱερεῦσιν Φαραω καὶ ἤσθιον τὴν δόσιν ἣν ἔδωκεν αὐτοῖς Φαραω διὰ τοῦτο οὐκ ἀπέδοντο τὴν γῆν αὐτῶν

23 εἶπεν δὲ Ιωσηφ πᾶσι τοῖς Αἰγυπτίοις ἰδοὺ κέκτημαι ὑμᾶς καὶ τὴν γῆν ὑμῶν σήμερον τῷ Φαραω λάβετε ἑαυτοῖς σπέρμα καὶ σπείρατε τὴν γῆν

24 καὶ ἔσται τὰ γενήματα αὐτῆς δώσετε τὸ πέμπτον μέρος τῷ Φαραω τὰ δὲ τέσσαρα μέρη ἔσται ὑμῖν αὐτοῖς εἰς σπέρμα τῇ γῇ καὶ εἰς βρῶσιν ὑμῖν καὶ πᾶσιν τοῖς ἐν τοῖς οἴκοις ὑμῶν

25 καὶ εἶπαν σέσωκας ἡμᾶς εὕρομεν χάριν ἐναντίον τοῦ κυρίου ἡμῶν καὶ ἐσόμεθα παῖδες Φαραω

26 καὶ ἔθετο αὐτοῖς Ιωσηφ εἰς πρόσταγμα ἕως τῆς ἡμέρας ταύτης ἐπὶ γῆν Αἰγύπτου τῷ Φαραω ἀποπεμπτοῦν χωρὶς τῆς γῆς τῶν ἱερέων μόνον οὐκ ἦν τῷ Φαραω

27 κατῴκησεν δὲ Ισραηλ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ ἐπὶ τῆς γῆς Γεσεμ καὶ ἐκληρονόμησαν ἐπ᾽ αὐτῆς καὶ ηὐξήθησαν καὶ ἐπληθύνθησαν σφόδρα

28 ἐπέζησεν δὲ Ιακωβ ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ δέκα ἑπτὰ ἔτη ἐγένοντο δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι Ιακωβ ἐνιαυτῶν τῆς ζωῆς αὐτοῦ ἑκατὸν τεσσαράκοντα ἑπτὰ ἔτη

29 ἤγγισαν δὲ αἱ ἡμέραι Ισραηλ τοῦ ἀποθανεῖν καὶ ἐκάλεσεν τὸν υἱὸν αὐτοῦ Ιωσηφ καὶ εἶπεν αὐτῷ εἰ εὕρηκα χάριν ἐναντίον σου ὑπόθες τὴν χεῖρά σου ὑπὸ τὸν μηρόν μου καὶ ποιήσεις ἐπ᾽ ἐμὲ ἐλεημοσύνην καὶ ἀλήθειαν τοῦ μή με θάψαι ἐν Αἰγύπτῳ

30 ἀλλὰ κοιμηθήσομαι μετὰ τῶν πατέρων μου καὶ ἀρεῖς με ἐξ Αἰγύπτου καὶ θάψεις με ἐν τῷ τάφῳ αὐτῶν ὁ δὲ εἶπεν ἐγὼ ποιήσω κατὰ τὸ ῥῆμά σου

31 εἶπεν δέ ὄμοσόν μοι καὶ ὤμοσεν αὐτῷ καὶ προσεκύνησεν Ισραηλ ἐπὶ τὸ ἄκρον τῆς ῥάβδου αὐτοῦ

‎3 ‏וַיֹּ֧אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֛ה אֶל־אֶחָ֖יו מַה־מַּעֲשֵׂיכֶ֑ם וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֗ה רֹעֵ֥ה צֹאן֙ עֲבָדֶ֔יךָ גַּם־אֲנַ֖חְנוּ גַּם־אֲבוֹתֵֽינוּ׃

‎4 ‏וַיֹּאמְר֣וּ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֗ה לָג֣וּר בָּאָרֶץ֮ בָּאנוּ֒ כִּי־אֵ֣ין מִרְעֶ֗ה לַצֹּאן֙ אֲשֶׁ֣ר לַעֲבָדֶ֔יךָ כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד הָרָעָ֖ב בְּאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנָ֑עַן וְעַתָּ֛ה יֵֽשְׁבוּ־נָ֥א עֲבָדֶ֖יךָ בְּאֶ֥רֶץ גֹּֽשֶׁן׃

‎5 ‏וַיֹּ֣אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֔ה אֶל־יוֹסֵ֖ף לֵאמֹ֑ר אָבִ֥יךָ וְאַחֶ֖יךָ בָּ֥אוּ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

‎6 ‏אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לְפָנֶ֣יךָ הִ֔וא בְּמֵיטַ֣ב הָאָ֔רֶץ הוֹשֵׁ֥ב אֶת־אָבִ֖יךָ וְאֶת־אַחֶ֑יךָ יֵשְׁבוּ֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֔שֶׁן וְאִם־יָדַ֗עְתָּ וְיֶשׁ־בָּם֙ אַנְשֵׁי־חַ֔יִל וְשַׂמְתָּ֛ם שָׂרֵ֥י מִקְנֶ֖ה עַל־אֲשֶׁר־לִֽי׃

‎7 ‏וַיָּבֵ֤א יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת־יַֽעֲקֹ֣ב אָבִ֔יו וַיַּֽעֲמִדֵ֖הוּ לִפְנֵ֣י פַרְעֹ֑ה וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹֽה׃

‎8 ‏וַיֹּ֥אמֶר פַּרְעֹ֖ה אֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֑ב כַּמָּ֕ה יְמֵ֖י שְׁנֵ֥י חַיֶּֽיךָ׃

‎9 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יַעֲקֹב֙ אֶל־פַּרְעֹ֔ה יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י מְגוּרַ֔י שְׁלֹשִׁ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָ֑ה מְעַ֣ט וְרָעִ֗ים הָיוּ֙ יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיַּ֔י וְלֹ֣א הִשִּׂ֗יגוּ אֶת־יְמֵי֙ שְׁנֵי֙ חַיֵּ֣י אֲבֹתַ֔י בִּימֵ֖י מְגוּרֵיהֶֽם׃

‎10 ‏וַיְבָ֥רֶךְ יַעֲקֹ֖ב אֶת־פַּרְעֹ֑ה וַיֵּצֵ֖א מִלִּפְנֵ֥י פַרְעֹֽה׃

‎11 ‏וַיּוֹשֵׁ֣ב יוֹסֵף֮ אֶת־אָבִ֣יו וְאֶת־אֶחָיו֒ וַיִּתֵּ֨ן לָהֶ֤ם אֲחֻזָּה֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם בְּמֵיטַ֥ב הָאָ֖רֶץ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ רַעְמְסֵ֑ס כַּאֲשֶׁ֖ר צִוָּ֥ה פַרְעֹֽה׃

‎12 ‏וַיְכַלְכֵּ֤ל יוֹסֵף֙ אֶת־אָבִ֣יו וְאֶת־אֶחָ֔יו וְאֵ֖ת כָּל־בֵּ֣ית אָבִ֑יו לֶ֖חֶם לְפִ֥י הַטָּֽף׃

‎13 ‏וְלֶ֤חֶם אֵין֙ בְּכָל־הָאָ֔רֶץ כִּֽי־כָבֵ֥ד הָרָעָ֖ב מְאֹ֑ד וַתֵּ֜לַהּ אֶ֤רֶץ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ וְאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן מִפְּנֵ֖י הָרָעָֽב׃

‎14 ‏וַיְלַקֵּ֣ט יוֹסֵ֗ף אֶת־כָּל־הַכֶּ֙סֶף֙ הַנִּמְצָ֤א בְאֶֽרֶץ־מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ וּבְאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַ֔עַן בַּשֶּׁ֖בֶר אֲשֶׁר־הֵ֣ם שֹׁבְרִ֑ים וַיָּבֵ֥א יוֹסֵ֛ף אֶת־הַכֶּ֖סֶף בֵּ֥יתָה פַרְעֹֽה׃

‎15 ‏וַיִּתֹּ֣ם הַכֶּ֗סֶף מֵאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַיִם֮ וּמֵאֶ֣רֶץ כְּנַעַן֒ וַיָּבֹאוּ֩ כָל־מִצְרַ֨יִם אֶל־יוֹסֵ֤ף לֵאמֹר֙ הָֽבָה־לָּ֣נוּ לֶ֔חֶם וְלָ֥מָּה נָמ֖וּת נֶגְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף׃

‎16 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ הָב֣וּ מִקְנֵיכֶ֔ם וְאֶתְּנָ֥ה לָכֶ֖ם בְּמִקְנֵיכֶ֑ם אִם־אָפֵ֖ס כָּֽסֶף׃

‎17 ‏וַיָּבִ֣יאוּ אֶת־מִקְנֵיהֶם֮ אֶל־יוֹסֵף֒ וַיִּתֵּ֣ן לָהֶם֩ יוֹסֵ֨ף לֶ֜חֶם בַּסּוּסִ֗ים וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה הַצֹּ֛אן וּבְמִקְנֵ֥ה הַבָּקָ֖ר וּבַחֲמֹרִ֑ים וַיְנַהֲלֵ֤ם בַּלֶּ֙חֶם֙ בְּכָל־מִקְנֵהֶ֔ם בַּשָּׁנָ֖ה הַהִֽוא׃

‎18 ‏וַתִּתֹּם֮ הַשָּׁנָ֣ה הַהִוא֒ וַיָּבֹ֨אוּ אֵלָ֜יו בַּשָּׁנָ֣ה הַשֵּׁנִ֗ית וַיֹּ֤אמְרוּ לוֹ֙ לֹֽא־נְכַחֵ֣ד מֵֽאֲדֹנִ֔י כִּ֚י אִם־תַּ֣ם הַכֶּ֔סֶף וּמִקְנֵ֥ה הַבְּהֵמָ֖ה אֶל־אֲדֹנִ֑י לֹ֤א נִשְׁאַר֙ לִפְנֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י בִּלְתִּ֥י אִם־גְּוִיָּתֵ֖נוּ וְאַדְמָתֵֽנוּ׃

‎19 ‏לָ֧מָּה נָמ֣וּת לְעֵינֶ֗יךָ גַּם־אֲנַ֙חְנוּ֙ גַּ֣ם אַדְמָתֵ֔נוּ קְנֵֽה־אֹתָ֥נוּ וְאֶת־אַדְמָתֵ֖נוּ בַּלָּ֑חֶם וְנִֽהְיֶ֞ה³ אֲנַ֤חְנוּ וְאַדְמָתֵ֙נוּ֙ עֲבָדִ֣ים לְפַרְעֹ֔ה וְתֶן־זֶ֗רַע וְנִֽחְיֶה֙³ וְלֹ֣א נָמ֔וּת וְהָאֲדָמָ֖ה לֹ֥א תֵשָֽׁם׃

‎20 ‏וַיִּ֨קֶן יוֹסֵ֜ף אֶת־כָּל־אַדְמַ֤ת מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ לְפַרְעֹ֔ה כִּֽי־מָכְר֤וּ מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ אִ֣ישׁ שָׂדֵ֔הוּ כִּֽי־חָזַ֥ק עֲלֵהֶ֖ם הָרָעָ֑ב וַתְּהִ֥י הָאָ֖רֶץ לְפַרְעֹֽה׃

‎21 ‏וְאֶ֨ת־הָעָ֔ם הֶעֱבִ֥יר אֹת֖וֹ לֶעָרִ֑ים מִקְצֵ֥ה גְבוּל־מִצְרַ֖יִם וְעַד־קָצֵֽהוּ׃

‎22 ‏רַ֛ק אַדְמַ֥ת הַכֹּהֲנִ֖ים לֹ֣א קָנָ֑ה כִּי֩ חֹ֨ק לַכֹּהֲנִ֜ים מֵאֵ֣ת פַּרְעֹ֗ה וְאָֽכְל֤וּ אֶת־חֻקָּם֙ אֲשֶׁ֨ר נָתַ֤ן לָהֶם֙ פַּרְעֹ֔ה עַל־כֵּ֕ן לֹ֥א מָכְר֖וּ אֶת־אַדְמָתָֽם׃

‎23 ‏וַיֹּ֤אמֶר יוֹסֵף֙ אֶל־הָעָ֔ם הֵן֩ קָנִ֨יתִי אֶתְכֶ֥ם הַיּ֛וֹם וְאֶת־אַדְמַתְכֶ֖ם לְפַרְעֹ֑ה הֵֽא־לָכֶ֣ם זֶ֔רַע וּזְרַעְתֶּ֖ם אֶת־הָאֲדָמָֽה׃

‎24 ‏וְהָיָה֙ בַּתְּבוּאֹ֔ת וּנְתַתֶּ֥ם חֲמִישִׁ֖ית לְפַרְעֹ֑ה וְאַרְבַּ֣ע הַיָּדֹ֡ת יִהְיֶ֣ה לָכֶם֩ לְזֶ֨רַע הַשָּׂדֶ֧ה וּֽלְאָכְלְכֶ֛ם וְלַאֲשֶׁ֥ר בְּבָתֵּיכֶ֖ם וְלֶאֱכֹ֥ל לְטַפְּכֶֽם׃

‎25 ‏וַיֹּאמְר֖וּ הֶחֱיִתָ֑נוּ נִמְצָא־חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֵ֣י אֲדֹנִ֔י וְהָיִ֥ינוּ עֲבָדִ֖ים לְפַרְעֹֽה׃

‎26 ‏וַיָּ֣שֶׂם אֹתָ֣הּ יוֹסֵ֡ף לְחֹק֩ עַד־הַיּ֨וֹם הַזֶּ֜ה עַל־אַדְמַ֥ת מִצְרַ֛יִם לְפַרְעֹ֖ה לַחֹ֑מֶשׁ רַ֞ק אַדְמַ֤ת הַכֹּֽהֲנִים֙ לְבַדָּ֔ם לֹ֥א הָיְתָ֖ה לְפַרְעֹֽה׃

‎27 ‏וַיֵּ֧שֶׁב יִשְׂרָאֵ֛ל בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרַ֖יִם בְּאֶ֣רֶץ גֹּ֑שֶׁן וַיֵּאָחֲז֣וּ בָ֔הּ וַיִּפְר֥וּ וַיִּרְבּ֖וּ מְאֹֽד׃

‎28 ‏וַיְחִ֤י יַעֲקֹב֙ בְּאֶ֣רֶץ מִצְרַ֔יִם שְׁבַ֥ע עֶשְׂרֵ֖ה שָׁנָ֑ה וַיְהִ֤י יְמֵֽי־יַעֲקֹב֙ שְׁנֵ֣י חַיָּ֔יו שֶׁ֣בַע שָׁנִ֔ים וְאַרְבָּעִ֥ים וּמְאַ֖ת שָׁנָֽה׃

‎29 ‏וַיִּקְרְב֣וּ יְמֵֽי־יִשְׂרָאֵל֮³ לָמוּת֒ וַיִּקְרָ֣א׀ לִבְנ֣וֹ לְיוֹסֵ֗ף וַיֹּ֤אמֶר לוֹ֙ אִם־נָ֨א מָצָ֤אתִי חֵן֙ בְּעֵינֶ֔יךָ שִֽׂים־נָ֥א יָדְךָ֖ תַּ֣חַת יְרֵכִ֑י וְעָשִׂ֤יתָ עִמָּדִי֙ חֶ֣סֶד וֶאֱמֶ֔ת אַל־נָ֥א תִקְבְּרֵ֖נִי בְּמִצְרָֽיִם׃

‎30 ‏וְשָֽׁכַבְתִּי֙ עִם־אֲבֹתַ֔י וּנְשָׂאתַ֙נִי֙ מִמִּצְרַ֔יִם וּקְבַרְתַּ֖נִי בִּקְבֻרָתָ֑ם וַיֹּאמַ֕ר אָנֹכִ֖י אֶֽעֱשֶׂ֥ה כִדְבָרֶֽךָ׃

‎31 ‏וַיֹּ֗אמֶר הִשָּֽׁבְעָה֙ לִ֔י וַיִּשָּׁבַ֖ע ל֑וֹ וַיִּשְׁתַּ֥חוּ יִשְׂרָאֵ֖ל עַל־רֹ֥אשׁ הַמִּטָּֽה׃ פ

1 Ingressus ergo Joseph nuntiavit Pharaoni, dicens: Pater meus et fratres, oves eorum et armenta, et cuncta quæ possident, venerunt de terra Chanaan: et ecce consistunt in terra Gessen.

2 Extremos quoque fratrum suorum quinque viros constituit coram rege:

3 quos ille interrogavit: Quid habetis operis? Responderunt: Pastores ovium sumus servi tui, et nos et patres nostri.

4 Ad peregrinandum in terra tua venimus: quoniam non est herba gregibus servorum tuorum, ingravescente fame in terra Chanaan: petimusque ut esse nos jubeas servos tuos in terra Gessen.

5 Dixit itaque rex ad Joseph: Pater tuus et fratres tui venerunt ad te.

6 Terra Ægypti in conspectu tuo est: in optimo loco fac eos habitare, et trade eis terram Gessen. Quod si nosti in eis esse viros industrios, constitue illos magistros pecorum meorum.

7 Post hæc introduxit Joseph patrem suum ad regem, et statuit eum coram eo: qui benedicens illi,

8 et interrogatus ab eo: Quot sunt dies annorum vitæ tuæ?

9 respondit: Dies peregrinationis meæ centum triginta annorum sunt, parvi et mali, et non pervenerunt usque ad dies patrum meorum quibus peregrinati sunt.

10 Et benedicto rege, egressus est foras.

11 Joseph vero patri et fratribus suis dedit possessionem in Ægypto in optimo terræ loco, Ramesses, ut præceperat Pharao.

12 Et alebat eos, omnemque domum patris sui, præbens cibaria singulis.

13 In toto enim orbe panis deerat, et oppresserat fames terram, maxime Ægypti et Chanaan.

14 E quibus omnem pecuniam congregavit pro venditione frumenti, et intulit eam in ærarium regis.

15 Cumque defecisset emptoribus pretium, venit cuncta Ægyptus ad Joseph, dicens: Da nobis panes: quare morimur coram te, deficiente pecunia?

16 Quibus ille respondit: Adducite pecora vestra, et dabo vobis pro eis cibos, si pretium non habetis.

17 Quæ cum adduxissent, dedit eis alimenta pro equis, et ovibus, et bobus, et asinis: sustentavitque eos illo anno pro commutatione pecorum.

18 Venerunt quoque anno secundo, et dixerunt ei: Non celabimus dominum nostrum quod deficiente pecunia, pecora simul defecerunt: nec clam te est, quod absque corporibus et terra nihil habeamus.

19 Cur ergo moriemur te vidente? et nos et terra nostra tui erimus: eme nos in servitutem regiam, et præbe semina, ne pereunte cultore redigatur terra in solitudinem.

20 Emit igitur Joseph omnem terram Ægypti, vendentibus singulis possessiones suas præ magnitudine famis. Subjecitque eam Pharaoni,

21 et cunctos populos ejus a novissimis terminis Ægypti usque ad extremos fines ejus,

22 præter terram sacerdotum, quæ a rege tradita fuerat eis: quibus et statuta cibaria ex horreis publicis præbebantur, et idcirco non sunt compulsi vendere possessiones suas.

23 Dixit ergo Joseph ad populos: En ut cernitis, et vos et terram vestram Pharao possidet: accipite semina, et serite agros,

24 ut fruges habere possitis. Quintam partem regi dabitis: quatuor reliquas permitto vobis in sementem, et in cibum familiis et liberis vestris.

25 Qui responderunt: Salus nostra in manu tua est: respiciat nos tantum dominus noster, et læti serviemus regi.

26 Ex eo tempore usque in præsentem diem, in universa terra Ægypti regibus quinta pars solvitur, et factum est quasi in legem, absque terra sacerdotali, quæ libera ab hac conditione fuit.

27 Habitavit ergo Israël in Ægypto, id est, in terra Gessen, et possedit eam: auctusque est, et multiplicatus nimis.

28 Et vixit in ea decem et septem annis: factique sunt omnes dies vitæ illius, centum quadraginta septem annorum.

29 Cumque appropinquare cerneret diem mortis suæ, vocavit filium suum Joseph, et dixit ad eum: Si inveni gratiam in conspectu tuo, pone manum tuam sub femore meo: et facies mihi misericordiam et veritatem, ut non sepelias me in Ægypto:

30 sed dormiam cum patribus meis, et auferas me de terra hac, condasque in sepulchro majorum meorum. Cui respondit Joseph: Ego faciam quod jussisti.

31 Et ille: Jura ergo, inquit, mihi. Quo jurante, adoravit Israël Deum, conversus ad lectuli caput.
