Proverbs 19

KJV

1  Better2896 is the poor7326 that walketh1980 in his integrity,8537 than he that is perverse4480 6141 in his lips,8193 and is a fool.3684

2  Also,1571 that the soul5315 be without3808 knowledge,1847 it is not3808 good;2896 and he that hasteth213 with his feet7272 sinneth.2398

3  The foolishness200 of man120 perverteth5557 his way:1870 and his heart3820 fretteth2196 against5921 the LORD.3068

4  Wealth1952 maketh3254 many7227 friends;7453 but the poor1800 is separated6504 from his neighbor.4480 7453

5  A false8267 witness5707 shall not3808 be unpunished,5352 and he that speaketh6315 lies3577 shall not3808 escape.4422

6  Many7227 will entreat2470 the favor6440 of the prince:5081 and every man3605 is a friend7453 to him that giveth gifts.376 4976

7  All3605 the brethren251 of the poor7326 do hate8130 him: how much more637 3588 do his friends4828 go far7368 from4480 him? he pursueth7291 them with words,561 yet they1992 are wanting3808 to him.

8  He that getteth7069 wisdom3820 loveth157 his own soul:5315 he that keepeth8104 understanding8394 shall find4672 good.2896

9  A false8267 witness5707 shall not3808 be unpunished,5352 and he that speaketh6315 lies3577 shall perish.6

10  Delight8588 is not3808 seemly5000 for a fool;3684 much less637 for3588 a servant5650 to have rule4910 over princes.8269

11  The discretion7922 of a man120 deferreth748 his anger;639 and it is his glory8597 to pass5674 over5921 a transgression.6588

12  The king's4428 wrath2197 is as the roaring5099 of a lion;3715 but his favor7522 is as dew2919 upon5921 the grass.6212

13  A foolish3684 son1121 is the calamity1942 of his father:1 and the contentions4079 of a wife802 are a continual2956 dropping.1812

14  House1004 and riches1952 are the inheritance5159 of fathers:1 and a prudent7919 wife802 is from the LORD.4480 3068

15  Slothfulness6103 casteth5307 into a deep sleep;8639 and an idle7423 soul5315 shall suffer hunger.7456

16  He that keepeth8104 the commandment4687 keepeth8104 his own soul;5315 but he that despiseth959 his ways1870 shall die.4191

17  He that hath pity2603 upon the poor1800 lendeth3867 unto the LORD;3068 and that which he hath given1576 will he pay him again.7999

18  Chasten3256 thy son1121 while3588 there is3426 hope,8615 and let not408 thy soul5315 spare5375 for413 his crying.4191

19  A man of great1419 wrath2534 shall suffer5375 punishment:6066 for3588 if518 thou deliver5337 him, yet5750 thou must do it again.3254

20  Hear8085 counsel,6098 and receive6901 instruction,4148 that4616 thou mayest be wise2449 in thy latter319 end.

21  There are many7227 devices4284 in a man's376 heart;3820 nevertheless the counsel6098 of the LORD,3068 that1931 shall stand.6965

22  The desire8378 of a man120 is his kindness:2617 and a poor7326 man4480 376 is better2896 than a liar.3577

23  The fear3374 of the LORD3068 tendeth to life:2416 and he that hath it shall abide3885 satisfied;7649 he shall not1077 be visited6485 with evil.7451

24  A slothful6102 man hideth2934 his hand3027 in his bosom,6747 and will not3808 so much1571 as bring it to his mouth again.413 6310 7725

25  Smite5221 a scorner,3887 and the simple6612 will beware:6191 and reprove3198 one that hath understanding,995 and he will understand995 knowledge.1847

26  He that wasteth7703 his father,1 and chaseth away1272 his mother,517 is a son1121 that causeth shame,954 and bringeth reproach.2659

27  Cease,2308 my son,1121 to hear8085 the instruction4148 that causeth to err7686 from the words4480 561 of knowledge.1847

28  An ungodly1100 witness5707 scorneth3887 judgment:4941 and the mouth6310 of the wicked7563 devoureth1104 iniquity.205

29  Judgments8201 are prepared3559 for scorners,3887 and stripes4112 for the back1460 of fools.3684

1 [Melior est pauper qui ambulat in simplicitate sua
quam dives torquens labia sua, et insipiens.

2 Ubi non est scientia animæ, non est bonum,
et qui festinus est pedibus offendet.

3 Stultitia hominis supplantat gressus ejus,
et contra Deum fervet animo suo.

4 Divitiæ addunt amicos plurimos;
a paupere autem et hi quos habuit separantur.

5 Testis falsus non erit impunitus,
et qui mendacia loquitur non effugiet.

6 Multi colunt personam potentis,
et amici sunt dona tribuentis.

7 Fratres hominis pauperis oderunt eum;
insuper et amici procul recesserunt ab eo.]
[Qui tantum verba sectatur nihil habebit;

13 Dolor patris filius stultus,
et tecta jugiter perstillantia litigiosa mulier.

14 Domus et divitiæ dantur a parentibus;
a Domino autem proprie uxor prudens.

15 Pigredo immittit soporem,
et anima dissoluta esuriet.

16 Qui custodit mandatum custodit animam suam;

21 Multæ cogitationes in corde viri;
voluntas autem Domini permanebit.

22 Homo indigens misericors est,
et melior est pauper quam vir mendax.

23 Timor Domini ad vitam,
et in plenitudine commorabitur absque visitatione pessima.]

24 [Abscondit piger manum suam sub ascella,
nec ad os suum applicat eam.

25 Pestilente flagellato stultus sapientior erit;
si autem corripueris sapientem, intelliget disciplinam.

26 Qui affligit patrem, et fugat matrem,
ignominiosus est et infelix.

27 Non cesses, fili, audire doctrinam,
nec ignores sermones scientiæ.

28 Testis iniquus deridet judicium,
et os impiorum devorat iniquitatem.

29 Parata sunt derisoribus judicia,
et mallei percutientes stultorum corporibus.]
