Jeremiah 20

KJV

12  But, O LORD3068 of hosts,6635 that triest974 the righteous,6662 and seest7200 the reins3629 and the heart,3820 let me see7200 thy vengeance5360 on4480 them: for3588 unto413 thee have I opened1540 853 my cause.7379

13  Sing7891 unto the LORD,3068 praise1984 ye 853 the LORD:3068 for3588 he hath delivered5337 853 the soul5315 of the poor34 from the hand4480 3027 of evildoers.7489

14  Cursed779 be the day3117 wherein834 I was born:3205 let not408 the day3117 wherein834 my mother517 bore3205 me be1961 blessed.1288

15  Cursed779 be the man376 who834 brought tidings1319 to 853 my father,1 saying,559 A man2145 child1121 is born3205 unto thee; making him very glad.8055 8055

16  And let that1931 man376 be1961 as the cities5892 which834 the LORD3068 overthrew,2015 and repented5162 not:3808 and let him hear8085 the cry2201 in the morning,1242 and the shouting8643 at noontide;6256 6672

17  Because834 he slew4191 me not3808 from the womb;4480 7358 or that my mother517 might have been1961 my grave,6913 and her womb7358 to be always5769 great2030 with me.

18  Wherefore4100 came I forth3318 out of the womb4480 7358 to see7200 labor5999 and sorrow,3015 that my days3117 should be consumed3615 with shame?1322

1  Now Pashur6583 the son1121 of Immer564 the priest,3548 who1931 was also chief5057 governor6496 in the house1004 of the LORD,3068 heard8085 that 853 Jeremiah3414 prophesied5012 853 these428 things.1697

2  Then Pashur6583 smote5221 853 Jeremiah3414 the prophet,5030 and put5414 him in5921 the stocks4115 that834 were in the high5945 gate8179 of Benjamin,1144 which834 was by the house1004 of the LORD.3068

3  And it came to pass1961 on the morrow,4480 4283 that Pashur6583 brought forth3318 853 Jeremiah3414 out of4480 the stocks.4115 Then said559 Jeremiah3414 unto413 him, The LORD3068 hath not3808 called7121 thy name8034 Pashur,6583 but3588 518 Magor-missabib.4036

4  For3588 thus3541 saith559 the LORD,3068 Behold,2009 I will make5414 thee a terror4032 to thyself, and to all3605 thy friends:157 and they shall fall5307 by the sword2719 of their enemies,341 and thine eyes5869 shall behold7200 it: and I will give5414 all3605 Judah3063 into the hand3027 of the king4428 of Babylon,894 and he shall carry them captive1540 into Babylon,894 and shall slay5221 them with the sword.2719

5  Moreover I will deliver5414 853 all3605 the strength2633 of this2063 city,5892 and all3605 the labors3018 thereof, and all3605 the precious things3366 thereof, and all3605 the treasures214 of the kings4428 of Judah3063 will I give5414 into the hand3027 of their enemies,341 which shall spoil962 them, and take3947 them, and carry935 them to Babylon.894

6  And thou,859 Pashur,6583 and all3605 that dwell3427 in thine house1004 shall go1980 into captivity:7628 and thou shalt come935 to Babylon,894 and there8033 thou shalt die,4191 and shalt be buried6912 there,8033 thou,859 and all3605 thy friends,157 to whom834 thou hast prophesied5012 lies.8267

7  O LORD,3068 thou hast deceived6601 me, and I was deceived:6601 thou art stronger2388 than I, and hast prevailed:3201 I am1961 in derision7814 daily,3605 3117 every one3605 mocketh3932 me.

8  For3588 since4480 1767 I spoke,1696 I cried out,2199 I cried7121 violence2555 and spoil;7701 because3588 the word1697 of the LORD3068 was made1961 a reproach2781 unto me, and a derision,7047 daily.3605 3117

9  Then I said,559 I will not3808 make mention2142 of him, nor3808 speak1696 any more5750 in his name.8034 But his word was1961 in mine heart3820 as a burning1197 fire784 shut up6113 in my bones,6106 and I was weary3811 with forbearing,3557 and I could3201 not3808 stay.

10  For3588 I heard8085 the defaming1681 of many,7227 fear4032 on every side.4480 5439 Report,5046 say they, and we will report5046 it. All3605 my familiars582 7965 watched8104 for my halting,6761 saying, Peradventure194 he will be enticed,6601 and we shall prevail3201 against him, and we shall take3947 our revenge5360 on4480 him.

11  But the LORD3068 is with854 me as a mighty1368 terrible one:6184 therefore5921 3651 my persecutors7291 shall stumble,3782 and they shall not3808 prevail:3201 they shall be greatly3966 ashamed;954 for3588 they shall not3808 prosper:7919 their everlasting5769 confusion3639 shall never3808 be forgotten.7911

4 Quia hæc dicit Dominus: [Ecce ego dabo te in pavorem,
te et omnes amicos tuos:
et corruent gladio inimicorum suorum,
et oculi tui videbunt:
et omnem Judam dabo in manum regis Babylonis,
et traducet eos in Babylonem,
et percutiet eos gladio.

5 Et dabo universam substantiam civitatis hujus,
et omnem laborem ejus, omneque pretium,
et cunctos thesauros regum Juda
dabo in manu inimicorum eorum:

ibitis in captivitatem:
et in Babylonem venies,
et ibi morieris, ibique sepelieris
tu, et omnes amici tui,
quibus prophetasti mendacium.]

7 [Seduxisti me, Domine, et seductus sum:
fortior me fuisti, et invaluisti:
factus sum in derisum tota die;
omnes subsannant me.

8 Quia jam olim loquor,
vociferans iniquitatem, et vastitatem clamito:
et factus est mihi sermo Domini in opprobrium,
et in derisum tota die.

9 Et dixi: Non recordabor ejus,
neque loquar ultra in nomine illius:
et factus est in corde meo quasi ignis exæstuans,
claususque in ossibus meis,
et defeci, ferre non sustinens.

10 Audivi enim contumelias multorum,
et terrorem in circuitu:
Persequimini, et persequamur eum,
ab omnibus viris qui erant pacifici mei,
et custodientes latus meum:
si quomodo decipiatur, et prævaleamus adversus eum,
et consequamur ultionem ex eo.

11 Dominus autem mecum est, quasi bellator fortis:
idcirco qui persequuntur me cadent,
et infirmi erunt:
confundentur vehementer,
quia non intellexerunt opprobrium sempiternum,
quod numquam delebitur.

12 Et tu, Domine exercituum, probator justi,
qui vides renes et cor,
videam, quæso, ultionem tuam ex eis:
tibi enim revelavi causam meam.

13 Cantate Domino,
laudate Dominum,
quia liberavit animam pauperis de manu malorum.

14 Maledicta dies in qua natus sum!
dies in qua peperit me mater mea

audiat clamorem mane,
et ululatum in tempore meridiano,

17 qui non me interfecit a vulva,
ut fieret mihi mater mea sepulchrum,
et vulva ejus conceptus æternus!

18 Quare de vulva egressus sum,
ut viderem laborem et dolorem,
et consumerentur in confusione dies mei?]
