Exodus 22


1  If3588 a man376 shall steal1589 an ox,7794 or176 a sheep,7716 and kill2873 it, or176 sell4376 it; he shall restore7999 five2568 oxen1241 for8478 an ox,7794 and four702 sheep6629 for8478 a sheep.7716

2  If518 a thief1590 be found4672 breaking up,4290 and be smitten5221 that he die,4191 there shall no369 blood1818 be shed for him.

3  If518 the sun8121 be risen2224 upon5921 him, there shall be blood1818 shed for him; for he should make full restitution;7999 7999 if518 he have nothing,369 then he shall be sold4376 for his theft.1591

4  If518 the theft1591 be certainly found4672 4672 in his hand3027 alive,2416 whether it be ox,4480 7794 or5704 ass,2543 or5704 sheep;7716 he shall restore7999 double.8147

5  If3588 a man376 shall cause a field7704 or176 vineyard3754 to be eaten,1197 and shall put in7971 853 his beast,1165 and shall feed1197 in another man's312 field;7704 of the best4315 of his own field,7704 and of the best4315 of his own vineyard,3754 shall he make restitution.7999

6  If3588 fire784 break out,3318 and catch4672 in thorns,6975 so that the stacks of corn,1430 or176 the standing corn,7054 or176 the field,7704 be consumed398 therewith; he that kindled1197 853 the fire1200 shall surely make restitution.7999 7999

7  If3588 a man376 shall deliver5414 unto413 his neighbor7453 money3701 or176 stuff3627 to keep,8104 and it be stolen1589 out of the man's house;4480 1004 376 if518 the thief1590 be found,4672 let him pay7999 double.8147

8  If518 the thief1590 be not3808 found,4672 then the master1167 of the house1004 shall be brought7126 unto413 the judges,430 to see whether518 3808 he have put7971 his hand3027 unto his neighbor's7453 goods.4399

9  For5921 all3605 manner1697 of trespass,6588 whether it be for5921 ox,7794 for5921 ass,2543 for5921 sheep,7716 for5921 raiment,8008 or for5921 any manner3605 of lost thing,9 which834 another challengeth559 to be his,3588 1931 2088 the cause1697 of both parties8147 shall come935 before5704 the judges;430 and whom834 the judges430 shall condemn,7561 he shall pay7999 double8147 unto his neighbor.7453

10  If3588 a man376 deliver5414 unto413 his neighbor7453 an ass,2543 or176 an ox,7794 or176 a sheep,7716 or any3605 beast,929 to keep;8104 and it die,4191 or176 be hurt,7665 or176 driven away,7617 no man369 seeing7200 it:

11  Then shall an oath7621 of the LORD3068 be1961 between996 them both,8147 that518 he hath not3808 put7971 his hand3027 unto his neighbor's7453 goods;4399 and the owner1167 of it shall accept3947 thereof, and he shall not3808 make it good.7999

12  And if518 it be stolen1589 1589 from4480 5973 him, he shall make restitution7999 unto the owner1167 thereof.

13  If518 it be torn in pieces,2963 2963 then let him bring935 it for witness,5707 and he shall not3808 make good7999 that which was torn.2966

14  And if3588 a man376 borrow7592 aught of4480 5973 his neighbor,7453 and it be hurt,7665 or176 die,4191 the owner1167 thereof being not369 with5973 it, he shall surely make it good.7999 7999

15  But if518 the owner1167 thereof be with5973 it, he shall not3808 make it good:7999 if518 it1931 be a hired7916 thing, it came935 for his hire.7939

16  And if3588 a man376 entice6601 a maid1330 that834 is not3808 betrothed,781 and lie7901 with5973 her, he shall surely endow4117 4117 her to be his wife.802

17  If518 her father1 utterly refuse3985 3985 to give5414 her unto him, he shall pay8254 money3701 according to the dowry4119 of virgins.1330

22  Ye shall not3808 afflict6031 any3605 widow,490 or fatherless child.3490

23  If518 thou afflict them in any wise,6031 6031 853 and3588 they cry at all6817 6817 unto413 me, I will surely hear8085 8085 their cry;6818

24  And my wrath639 shall wax hot,2734 and I will kill2026 you with the sword;2719 and your wives802 shall be1961 widows,490 and your children1121 fatherless.3490

25  If518 thou lend3867 money3701 to any of 853 my people5971 that is 853 poor6041 by5973 thee, thou shalt not3808 be1961 to him as a usurer,5383 neither3808 shalt thou lay7760 upon5921 him usury.5392

26  If518 thou at all take thy neighbor's raiment to pledge,2254 2254 7453 8008 thou shalt deliver7725 it unto him by that5704 the sun8121 goeth down:935

27  For3588 that1931 is his covering3682 only,905 it1931 is his raiment8071 for his skin:5785 wherein4100 shall he sleep?7901 and it shall come to pass,1961 when3588 he crieth6817 unto413 me, that I will hear;8085 for3588 I589 am gracious.2587

28  Thou shalt not3808 revile7043 the gods,430 nor3808 curse779 the ruler5387 of thy people.5971

29  Thou shalt not3808 delay309 to offer the first of thy ripe fruits,4395 and of thy liquors:1831 the firstborn1060 of thy sons1121 shalt thou give5414 unto me.

30  Likewise3651 shalt thou do6213 with thine oxen,7794 and with thy sheep:6629 seven7651 days3117 it shall be1961 with5973 his dam;517 on the eighth8066 day3117 thou shalt give5414 it me.

31  And ye shall be1961 holy6944 men376 unto me: neither3808 shall ye eat398 any flesh1320 that is torn of beasts2966 in the field;7704 ye shall cast7993 it to the dogs.3611


1 ἐὰν δὲ ἐν τῷ διορύγματι εὑρεθῇ ὁ κλέπτης καὶ πληγεὶς ἀποθάνῃ οὐκ ἔστιν αὐτῷ φόνος

2 ἐὰν δὲ ἀνατείλῃ ὁ ἥλιος ἐπ᾽ αὐτῷ ἔνοχός ἐστιν ἀνταποθανεῖται ἐὰν δὲ μὴ ὑπάρχῃ αὐτῷ πραθήτω ἀντὶ τοῦ κλέμματος

3 ἐὰν δὲ καταλημφθῇ καὶ εὑρεθῇ ἐν τῇ χειρὶ αὐτοῦ τὸ κλέμμα ἀπό τε ὄνου ἕως προβάτου ζῶντα διπλᾶ αὐτὰ ἀποτείσει

4 ἐὰν δὲ καταβοσκήσῃ τις ἀγρὸν ἢ ἀμπελῶνα καὶ ἀφῇ τὸ κτῆνος αὐτοῦ καταβοσκῆσαι ἀγρὸν ἕτερον ἀποτείσει ἐκ τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτοῦ κατὰ τὸ γένημα αὐτοῦ ἐὰν δὲ πάντα τὸν ἀγρὸν καταβοσκήσῃ τὰ βέλτιστα τοῦ ἀγροῦ αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰ βέλτιστα τοῦ ἀμπελῶνος αὐτοῦ ἀποτείσει

5 ἐὰν δὲ ἐξελθὸν πῦρ εὕρῃ ἀκάνθας καὶ προσεμπρήσῃ ἅλωνα ἢ στάχυς ἢ πεδίον ἀποτείσει ὁ τὸ πῦρ ἐκκαύσας

6 ἐὰν δέ τις δῷ τῷ πλησίον ἀργύριον ἢ σκεύη φυλάξαι καὶ κλαπῇ ἐκ τῆς οἰκίας τοῦ ἀνθρώπου ἐὰν εὑρεθῇ ὁ κλέψας ἀποτείσει διπλοῦν

7 ἐὰν δὲ μὴ εὑρεθῇ ὁ κλέψας προσελεύσεται ὁ κύριος τῆς οἰκίας ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ ὀμεῖται ἦ μὴν μὴ αὐτὸς πεπονηρεῦσθαι ἐφ᾽ ὅλης τῆς παρακαταθήκης τοῦ πλησίον

8 κατὰ πᾶν ῥητὸν ἀδίκημα περί τε μόσχου καὶ ὑποζυγίου καὶ προβάτου καὶ ἱματίου καὶ πάσης ἀπωλείας τῆς ἐγκαλουμένης ὅ τι οὖν ἂν ᾖ ἐνώπιον τοῦ θεοῦ ἐλεύσεται ἡ κρίσις ἀμφοτέρων καὶ ὁ ἁλοὺς διὰ τοῦ θεοῦ ἀποτείσει διπλοῦν τῷ πλησίον

9 ἐὰν δέ τις δῷ τῷ πλησίον ὑποζύγιον ἢ μόσχον ἢ πρόβατον ἢ πᾶν κτῆνος φυλάξαι καὶ συντριβῇ ἢ τελευτήσῃ ἢ αἰχμάλωτον γένηται καὶ μηδεὶς γνῷ

10 ὅρκος ἔσται τοῦ θεοῦ ἀνὰ μέσον ἀμφοτέρων ἦ μὴν μὴ αὐτὸν πεπονηρεῦσθαι καθ᾽ ὅλης τῆς παρακαταθήκης τοῦ πλησίον καὶ οὕτως προσδέξεται ὁ κύριος αὐτοῦ καὶ οὐκ ἀποτείσει

11 ἐὰν δὲ κλαπῇ παρ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἀποτείσει τῷ κυρίῳ

12 ἐὰν δὲ θηριάλωτον γένηται ἄξει αὐτὸν ἐπὶ τὴν θήραν καὶ οὐκ ἀποτείσει

13 ἐὰν δὲ αἰτήσῃ τις παρὰ τοῦ πλησίον καὶ συντριβῇ ἢ ἀποθάνῃ ἢ αἰχμάλωτον γένηται ὁ δὲ κύριος μὴ ᾖ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ ἀποτείσει

14 ἐὰν δὲ ὁ κύριος ᾖ μετ᾽ αὐτοῦ οὐκ ἀποτείσει ἐὰν δὲ μισθωτὸς ᾖ ἔσται αὐτῷ ἀντὶ τοῦ μισθοῦ αὐτοῦ

15 ἐὰν δὲ ἀπατήσῃ τις παρθένον ἀμνήστευτον καὶ κοιμηθῇ μετ᾽ αὐτῆς φερνῇ φερνιεῖ αὐτὴν αὐτῷ γυναῖκα

16 ἐὰν δὲ ἀνανεύων ἀνανεύσῃ καὶ μὴ βούληται ὁ πατὴρ αὐτῆς δοῦναι αὐτὴν αὐτῷ γυναῖκα ἀργύριον ἀποτείσει τῷ πατρὶ καθ᾽ ὅσον ἐστὶν ἡ φερνὴ τῶν παρθένων

17 φαρμακοὺς οὐ περιποιήσετε

18 πᾶν κοιμώμενον μετὰ κτήνους θανάτῳ ἀποκτενεῖτε αὐτούς

19 ὁ θυσιάζων θεοῖς θανάτῳ ὀλεθρευθήσεται πλὴν κυρίῳ μόνῳ

20 καὶ προσήλυτον οὐ κακώσετε οὐδὲ μὴ θλίψητε αὐτόν ἦτε γὰρ προσήλυτοι ἐν γῇ Αἰγύπτῳ

21 πᾶσαν χήραν καὶ ὀρφανὸν οὐ κακώσετε

22 ἐὰν δὲ κακίᾳ κακώσητε αὐτοὺς καὶ κεκράξαντες καταβοήσωσι πρός με ἀκοῇ εἰσακούσομαι τῆς φωνῆς αὐτῶν

23 καὶ ὀργισθήσομαι θυμῷ καὶ ἀποκτενῶ ὑμᾶς μαχαίρᾳ καὶ ἔσονται αἱ γυναῖκες ὑμῶν χῆραι καὶ τὰ παιδία ὑμῶν ὀρφανά

24 ἐὰν δὲ ἀργύριον ἐκδανείσῃς τῷ ἀδελφῷ τῷ πενιχρῷ παρὰ σοί οὐκ ἔσῃ αὐτὸν κατεπείγων οὐκ ἐπιθήσεις αὐτῷ τόκον

25 ἐὰν δὲ ἐνεχύρασμα ἐνεχυράσῃς τὸ ἱμάτιον τοῦ πλησίον πρὸ δυσμῶν ἡλίου ἀποδώσεις αὐτῷ

26 ἔστιν γὰρ τοῦτο περιβόλαιον αὐτοῦ μόνον τοῦτο τὸ ἱμάτιον ἀσχημοσύνης αὐτοῦ ἐν τίνι κοιμηθήσεται ἐὰν οὖν καταβοήσῃ πρός με εἰσακούσομαι αὐτοῦ ἐλεήμων γάρ εἰμι

27 θεοὺς οὐ κακολογήσεις καὶ ἄρχοντας τοῦ λαοῦ σου οὐ κακῶς ἐρεῖς

28 ἀπαρχὰς ἅλωνος καὶ ληνοῦ σου οὐ καθυστερήσεις τὰ πρωτότοκα τῶν υἱῶν σου δώσεις ἐμοί

29 οὕτως ποιήσεις τὸν μόσχον σου καὶ τὸ πρόβατόν σου καὶ τὸ ὑποζύγιόν σου ἑπτὰ ἡμέρας ἔσται ὑπὸ τὴν μητέρα τῇ δὲ ὀγδόῃ ἡμέρᾳ ἀποδώσεις μοι αὐτό

30 καὶ ἄνδρες ἅγιοι ἔσεσθέ μοι καὶ κρέας θηριάλωτον οὐκ ἔδεσθε τῷ κυνὶ ἀπορρίψατε αὐτό


‎1 ‏אִם־בַּמַּחְתֶּ֛רֶת יִמָּצֵ֥א הַגַּנָּ֖ב וְהֻכָּ֣ה וָמֵ֑ת אֵ֥ין ל֖וֹ דָּמִֽים׃

‎2 ‏אִם־זָרְחָ֥ה הַשֶּׁ֛מֶשׁ עָלָ֖יו דָּמִ֣ים ל֑וֹ שַׁלֵּ֣ם יְשַׁלֵּ֔ם אִם־אֵ֣ין ל֔וֹ וְנִמְכַּ֖ר בִּגְנֵבָתֽוֹ׃

‎3 ‏אִֽם־הִמָּצֵא֩ תִמָּצֵ֨א בְיָד֜וֹ הַגְּנֵבָ֗ה מִשּׁ֧וֹר עַד־חֲמ֛וֹר עַד־שֶׂ֖ה חַיִּ֑ים שְׁנַ֖יִם יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ ס

‎4 ‏כִּ֤י יַבְעֶר־אִישׁ֙ שָׂדֶ֣ה אוֹ־כֶ֔רֶם וְשִׁלַּח֙ אֶת־בעירה בְּעִיר֔וֹ וּבִעֵ֖ר בִּשְׂדֵ֣ה אַחֵ֑ר מֵיטַ֥ב שָׂדֵ֛הוּ וּמֵיטַ֥ב כַּרְמ֖וֹ יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ ס

‎5 ‏כִּֽי־תֵצֵ֨א אֵ֜שׁ וּמָצְאָ֤ה קֹצִים֙ וְנֶאֱכַ֣ל גָּדִ֔ישׁ א֥וֹ הַקָּמָ֖ה א֣וֹ הַשָּׂדֶ֑ה שַׁלֵּ֣ם יְשַׁלֵּ֔ם הַמַּבְעִ֖ר אֶת־הַבְּעֵרָֽה׃ ס

‎6 ‏כִּֽי־יִתֵּן֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵ֜הוּ כֶּ֤סֶף אֽוֹ־כֵלִים֙ לִשְׁמֹ֔ר וְגֻנַּ֖ב מִבֵּ֣ית הָאִ֑ישׁ אִם־יִמָּצֵ֥א הַגַּנָּ֖ב יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם שְׁנָֽיִם׃

‎7 ‏אִם־לֹ֤א יִמָּצֵא֙ הַגַּנָּ֔ב וְנִקְרַ֥ב בַּֽעַל־הַבַּ֖יִת אֶל־הָֽאֱלֹהִ֑ים אִם־לֹ֥א שָׁלַ֛ח יָד֖וֹ בִּמְלֶ֥אכֶת רֵעֵֽהוּ׃

‎8 ‏עַֽל־כָּל־דְּבַר־פֶּ֡שַׁע עַל־שׁ֡וֹר עַל־חֲ֠מוֹר עַל־שֶׂ֨ה עַל־שַׂלְמָ֜ה עַל־כָּל־אֲבֵדָ֗ה אֲשֶׁ֤ר יֹאמַר֙ כִּי־ה֣וּא זֶ֔ה עַ֚ד הָֽאֱלֹהִ֔ים יָבֹ֖א דְּבַר־שְׁנֵיהֶ֑ם אֲשֶׁ֤ר יַרְשִׁיעֻן֙ אֱלֹהִ֔ים יְשַׁלֵּ֥ם שְׁנַ֖יִם לְרֵעֵֽהוּ׃ ס

‎9 ‏כִּֽי־יִתֵּן֩ אִ֨ישׁ אֶל־רֵעֵ֜הוּ חֲמ֨וֹר אוֹ־שׁ֥וֹר אוֹ־שֶׂ֛ה וְכָל־בְּהֵמָ֖ה לִשְׁמֹ֑ר וּמֵ֛ת אוֹ־נִשְׁבַּ֥ר אוֹ־נִשְׁבָּ֖ה אֵ֥ין רֹאֶֽה׃

‎10 ‏שְׁבֻעַ֣ת יְהוָ֗ה תִּהְיֶה֙ בֵּ֣ין שְׁנֵיהֶ֔ם אִם־לֹ֥א שָׁלַ֛ח יָד֖וֹ בִּמְלֶ֣אכֶת רֵעֵ֑הוּ וְלָקַ֥ח בְּעָלָ֖יו וְלֹ֥א יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

‎11 ‏וְאִם־גָּנֹ֥ב יִגָּנֵ֖ב מֵעִמּ֑וֹ יְשַׁלֵּ֖ם לִבְעָלָֽיו׃

‎12 ‏אִם־טָרֹ֥ף יִטָּרֵ֖ף יְבִאֵ֣הוּ עֵ֑ד הַטְּרֵפָ֖ה לֹ֥א יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃ פ

‎13 ‏וְכִֽי־יִשְׁאַ֥ל אִ֛ישׁ מֵעִ֥ם רֵעֵ֖הוּ וְנִשְׁבַּ֣ר אוֹ־מֵ֑ת בְּעָלָ֥יו אֵין־עִמּ֖וֹ שַׁלֵּ֥ם יְשַׁלֵּֽם׃

‎14 ‏אִם־בְּעָלָ֥יו עִמּ֖וֹ לֹ֣א יְשַׁלֵּ֑ם אִם־שָׂכִ֣יר ה֔וּא בָּ֖א בִּשְׂכָרֽוֹ׃ ס

‎15 ‏וְכִֽי־יְפַתֶּ֣ה אִ֗ישׁ בְּתוּלָ֛ה אֲשֶׁ֥ר לֹא־אֹרָ֖שָׂה וְשָׁכַ֣ב עִמָּ֑הּ מָהֹ֛ר יִמְהָרֶ֥נָּה לּ֖וֹ לְאִשָּֽׁה׃

‎16 ‏אִם־מָאֵ֧ן יְמָאֵ֛ן אָבִ֖יהָ לְתִתָּ֣הּ ל֑וֹ כֶּ֣סֶף יִשְׁקֹ֔ל כְּמֹ֖הַר הַבְּתוּלֹֽת׃ ס

‎17 ‏מְכַשֵּׁפָ֖ה לֹ֥א תְחַיֶּֽה׃ ס

‎18 ‏כָּל־שֹׁכֵ֥ב עִם־בְּהֵמָ֖ה מ֥וֹת יוּמָֽת׃ ס

‎19 ‏זֹבֵ֥חַ לָאֱלֹהִ֖ים יָֽחֳרָ֑ם בִּלְתִּ֥י לַיהוָ֖ה לְבַדּֽוֹ׃

‎20 ‏וְגֵ֥ר לֹא־תוֹנֶ֖ה וְלֹ֣א תִלְחָצֶ֑נּוּ כִּֽי־גֵרִ֥ים הֱיִיתֶ֖ם בְּאֶ֥רֶץ מִצְרָֽיִם׃

‎21 ‏כָּל־אַלְמָנָ֥ה וְיָת֖וֹם לֹ֥א תְעַנּֽוּן׃

‎22 ‏אִם־עַנֵּ֥ה תְעַנֶּ֖ה אֹת֑וֹ כִּ֣י אִם־צָעֹ֤ק יִצְעַק֙ אֵלַ֔י שָׁמֹ֥עַ אֶשְׁמַ֖ע צַעֲקָתֽוֹ׃

‎23 ‏וְחָרָ֣ה אַפִּ֔י וְהָרַגְתִּ֥י אֶתְכֶ֖ם בֶּחָ֑רֶב וְהָי֤וּ נְשֵׁיכֶם֙ אַלְמָנ֔וֹת וּבְנֵיכֶ֖ם יְתֹמִֽים׃ פ

‎24 ‏אִם־כֶּ֣סֶף׀ תַּלְוֶ֣ה אֶת־עַמִּ֗י אֶת־הֶֽעָנִי֙ עִמָּ֔ךְ לֹא־תִהְיֶ֥ה ל֖וֹ כְּנֹשֶׁ֑ה לֹֽא־תְשִׂימ֥וּן עָלָ֖יו נֶֽשֶׁךְ׃

‎25 ‏אִם־חָבֹ֥ל תַּחְבֹּ֖ל שַׂלְמַ֣ת רֵעֶ֑ךָ עַד־בֹּ֥א הַשֶּׁ֖מֶשׁ תְּשִׁיבֶ֥נּוּ לֽוֹ׃

‎26 ‏כִּ֣י הִ֤וא כסותה כְסוּתוֹ֙ לְבַדָּ֔הּ הִ֥וא שִׂמְלָת֖וֹ לְעֹר֑וֹ בַּמֶּ֣ה יִשְׁכָּ֔ב וְהָיָה֙ כִּֽי־יִצְעַ֣ק אֵלַ֔י וְשָׁמַעְתִּ֖י כִּֽי־חַנּ֥וּן אָֽנִי׃ ס

‎27 ‏אֱלֹהִ֖ים לֹ֣א תְקַלֵּ֑ל וְנָשִׂ֥יא בְעַמְּךָ֖ לֹ֥א תָאֹֽר׃

‎28 ‏מְלֵאָתְךָ֥ וְדִמְעֲךָ֖ לֹ֣א תְאַחֵ֑ר בְּכ֥וֹר בָּנֶ֖יךָ תִּתֶּן־לִּֽי׃3

‎29 ‏כֵּֽן־תַּעֲשֶׂ֥ה לְשֹׁרְךָ֖ לְצֹאנֶ֑ךָ שִׁבְעַ֤ת יָמִים֙ יִהְיֶ֣ה עִם־אִמּ֔וֹ בַּיּ֥וֹם הַשְּׁמִינִ֖י תִּתְּנוֹ־לִֽי׃

‎30 ‏וְאַנְשֵׁי־קֹ֖דֶשׁ תִּהְי֣וּן לִ֑י וּבָשָׂ֨ר בַּשָּׂדֶ֤ה טְרֵפָה֙ לֹ֣א תֹאכֵ֔לוּ לַכֶּ֖לֶב תַּשְׁלִכ֥וּן אֹתֽוֹ׃ ס


1 Si quis furatus fuerit bovem aut ovem, et occiderit vel vendiderit: quinque boves pro uno bove restituet, et quatuor oves pro una ove.

2 Si effringens fur domum sive suffodiens fuerit inventus, et accepto vulnere mortuus fuerit, percussor non erit reus sanguinis.

3 Quod si orto sole hoc fecerit, homicidium perpetravit, et ipse morietur. Si non habuerit quod pro furto reddat, ipse venundabitur.

4 Si inventum fuerit apud eum quod furatus est, vivens: sive bos, sive asinus, sive ovis, duplum restituet.

5 Si læserit quispiam agrum vel vineam, et dimiserit jumentum suum ut depascatur aliena: quidquid optimum habuerit in agro suo, vel in vinea, pro damni æstimatione restituet.

6 Si egressus ignis invenerit spinas, et comprehenderit acervos frugum, sive stantes segetes in agris, reddet damnum qui ignem succenderit.

7 Si quis commendaverit amico pecuniam aut vas in custodiam, et ab eo, qui susceperat, furto ablata fuerint: si invenitur fur, duplum reddet:

8 si latet fur, dominus domus applicabitur ad deos, et jurabit quod non extenderit manum in rem proximi sui,

9 ad perpetrandam fraudem, tam in bove quam in asino, et ove ac vestimento, et quidquid damnum inferre potest: ad deos utriusque causa perveniet, et si illi judicaverit, duplum restituet proximo suo.

10 Si quis commendaverit proximo suo asinum, bovem, ovem, et omne jumentum ad custodiam, et mortuum fuerit, aut debilitatum, vel captum ab hostibus, nullusque hoc viderit:

11 jusjurandum erit in medio, quod non extenderit manum ad rem proximi sui: suscipietque dominus juramentum, et ille reddere non cogetur.

12 Quod si furto ablatum fuerit, restituet damnum domino;

13 si comestum a bestia, deferat ad eum quod occisum est, et non restituet.

14 Qui a proximo suo quidquam horum mutuo postulaverit, et debilitatum aut mortuum fuerit domino non præsente, reddere compelletur.

15 Quod si impræsentiarum dominus fuerit, non restituet, maxime si conductum venerat pro mercede operis sui.

16 Si seduxerit quis virginem necdum desponsatam, dormieritque cum ea: dotabit eam, et habebit eam uxorem.

17 Si pater virginis dare noluerit, reddet pecuniam juxta modum dotis, quam virgines accipere consueverunt.

18 Maleficos non patieris vivere.

19 Qui coierit cum jumento, morte moriatur.

20 Qui immolat diis, occidetur, præterquam Domino soli.

21 Advenam non contristabis, neque affliges eum: advenæ enim et ipsi fuistis in terra Ægypti.

22 Viduæ et pupillo non nocebitis.

23 Si læseritis eos, vociferabuntur ad me, et ego audiam clamorem eorum:

24 et indignabitur furor meus, percutiamque vos gladio, et erunt uxores vestræ viduæ, et filii vestri pupilli.

25 Si pecuniam mutuam dederis populo meo pauperi qui habitat tecum, non urgebis eum quasi exactor, nec usuris opprimes.

26 Si pignus a proximo tuo acceperis vestimentum, ante solis occasum reddes ei.

27 Ipsum enim est solum, quo operitur, indumentum carnis ejus, nec habet aliud in quo dormiat: si clamaverit ad me, exaudiam eum, quia misericors sum.

28 Diis non detrahes, et principi populi tui non maledices.

29 Decimas tuas et primitias tuas non tardabis reddere: primogenitum filiorum tuorum dabis mihi.

30 De bobus quoque, et ovibus similiter facies: septem diebus sit cum matre sua, die octava reddes illum mihi.

31 Viri sancti eritis mihi: carnem, quæ a bestiis fuerit prægustata, non comedetis, sed projicietis canibus.
